Description
Spent part of yesterday afternoon hanging out in a reptile cafe, doing some quick sketches of their cold-blooded attractions.

Having one curled up on one hand is an interesting feeling, feeling it's cool scales against my warm skin as it carefully slides its body between my fingers, tasting the air occasionally with quick flickers of its forked tongue as it curls itself around my arm and hand like it were a tree branch. And when it finally stops wriggling around and settles itself in a comfortable position with its little head a foot from my face is a special feeling, a mutual understanding formed as I gently hold its delicate body in my grasp, my movements slow and steady so to not startle or alarm it as I calmly observe every part of it and attempt to translate its features with pen on paper.

Their not as affectionate or needy as dogs or some cats, they'd probably rather be left alone. But when treated gently and with respect and understanding, they tolerate our curiosity and fascination.

And just for one cup of coffee, one can spend as much time as one likes with them.
