To Ash, it doesn’t matter how powerful said Pokémon is or how dangerous the situation is to himself. The only thing that matters to Ash is to protect any Pokémon he cares about and keep them happy and out of trouble.
Everyone’s got their own definition of what a Pokémon Master is but I’m convinced Ash already is one in this way and he just doesn’t know it yet.

Oh gosh. The look Mewtwo has when he looked back to where Ash was supposed to be spoke volumes to what he was thinking. Mewtwo will really need to get use to him doing that and be able to protect him when he does.
