this is definitely creepier than the remake especially with the rain in the background, it really ties in to when he first met GeorgieΒ

I hate the design and acting of Pennywise in the new movie, they put aside the disturbing element, but at the same time subtle in some parts of the book, and the horror scenes are shown in a cartoonish way that looks like a movie for children. The miniseries is not perfect, but with all its imperfection and censorship it manages to create a memorable film that after 30 years people still remember it, something that the 2017 version cannot be said.
Β The miniseries is based on a more sinister atmosphere and a much more coherent narrative, besides nobody is going to overcome the role of Tim Curry, the role belongs to him forever, he eats each scene without the need for special effects or hides in the dark with stylized makeup, and although I love the book, the only reason it is relevant is because of the impact Curry's performance had. I have more Pennywise drawings, but I haven't uploaded them to highlight my most original and personal work but maybe I put them on my blogΒ .

came back to this randomly 8D idk how to be honest.
re-reading this I will agree with you that the remake seemed to be more goofy than scary and the only reason the new version scared me is because i never could get into the book because it's so big and long and I couldn't get a hold of the original so I had no idea what I was watching and I'm actually not fond of clowns so when you're already scared of clowns and you get thrown into a clown movie, it's pretty terrifying for a first timer. usually with Stephen King though, I like to stick with the books because most of the time, when I watch the movies after getting into the books, it completely ruins it and I just end up reading the book. but I get where you're coming from with the remake, after I watched it again, it just didn't scare me as much and I know Pennywise is meant to be a clown and everything but I think they did overdid it a bit on the remake. I still enjoyed it though. but usually with Stephen King I like to stick to books. like you did with Pennywise here, I like to have my own imagination on the characters without Hollywood interfering.Β

Well, I think it's a better answer, I suggest you read their short stories like the Night Shift anthology, what I like about Stephen King is that he takes ridiculous and repetitive stories that we have seen again and again and gives them a credible scenery and disturbing elements like killer clown, rabid dog, haunted hotels, possessed car, zombie babies etc, etc, etc... .

Alright I'll check those out. Ya I like that too. or like what he did for doctor sleep, he took vampires and made them so they don't drink blood and burn in the sun and stuff and look you know scary and bat like

Β Β Β Exactly, he put his own view of these sub-genres to make things a little more believable and different than we know them. I love how Dr. Sleep is different from the Shining without being a cheap copy, but an extension of the original story and its charactersΒ Β .

ya I do too and I like that he continued the story too, it would've been disappointing if he just left it as the shining without us knowing much about Danny and stuff

This is probably the most accurate depiction of Pennywise I've ever seen. The only thing that's missing is the electric blue tie.
