Goku originated from a manga series, and most of his legacy is as an anime character. Everyone, EVERYONE in Smash Brothers originated from a video game, as in they were in video games FIRST, Smash Bros never even references non video game material(movies, cartoons, anime, etc) based on the games that are represented.
