So this is small, kind of sketchy and cartoon-ish, but I really like it. I think I failed with a long horizon perspective on the background, but I've wanted to try it out for a while and I do like the skeleton trees .

These two horses are actually mother and daughter. Dusty, the chestnut on the left is Aphie's first born foal, and she lives at Misty Mountain with *LeavingNeverland . Since Dusty started competing herself, we've been talking about doing a joint collab/class with these two, and finally Nev found a pairs jumping event, so we got ourselves signed up. On board are Chess and Nev's Malachi.

The show journal said that there were extra points available for holding hands whilst jumping, too, so we figured some practice was a good idea. Since they're holding hands, I also asked about crossing the inside reins of the horses, rather like the way the harness and reins work for carriage driving, if there are two horses side by side. We were given the go ahead, but yes - this can be very dangerous and I don't advise trying it (Chess is a risk taker XD). So they're starting out slowly, each holding their own outside rein, and the inside rein of the other horse. The idea is that it keeps them closer together and - if Chess and Malachi can work together properly - steering should be easier.

Dusty's in an ordinary English saddle with a snaffle bridle (cavesson noseband). Aphie's in her usual English side saddle - which she does compete in over jumps - but her usual snaffle's been switched for an English hackamore, because her mouth is incredibly sensitive and this can take some practice. Lakewood's closer to the event, too, so Malachi and Dusty came over to us, rather than the other way around - this would be Lakewood's outdoor school, buried in snow.

That's about it.

I freaking love Dusty's colours - I forgot how much. And she was so much fun to paint. As usual, I also want Chess' scarf.
