Description Just a bit of fun, nothing much to look at...

Considering how touchy I am about people messing with my hair, it may be surprising that I love plaiting and braiding so much. I've been able to plait my own hair for years, but it was learning to do horse tail plaits at college that first got me hooked onto dutch-french plaiting (or reverse/inverse french plaiting). Then it escalated. I just love experimenting with hairstyles. Often I'll attempt to work on my own hair, but for some of the more experimental, I have a younger cousin who doesn't protest too much if I shove her on a stool to borrow her hair . Well...she doesn't protest if she has a laptop with her...

Anyway... This is just a few quick photos, taken with my phone of some of the stuff I've done in the last couple of weeks.

Well, other than the one on the top right. I did that around 4 years ago in order to practice tail plaiting so I'd pass my turnout assessment in college. So you get an idea of how fiddly it was - that's a Barbie horse that's about 25cm high at the withers. The tail brushes the surface of whatever she's standing on and is completely synthetic. It took a while, but I did expect it to take longer, so...

Moving on.

Top middle is the only one of me - its a very basic inside-out ponytail. Funny angle is because of taking it over my shoulder.
Top left is traditional braids (4) pulled into a side pony tail which was then flipped inside out and fishtail braided. It just looks wonky, though, rather than properly to the side. We'll call that one a failure XD
The four in the bottom left are the same hairstyle; half dutch-french plait, braided sideways and doubled back. The plait was tailed off initially, and later tied higher up instead.
The two on the bottom right are the same from slightly different angles. Hair twisted from the hairline at the front and crossed/woven over the back of the head and into basic pigtails/bunchies (as we used to call them).

I just like experimenting with new stuff, so I may put up other photos later

FYI - in the background, that is my living room (we have a brick wall) and the dining room. You can see the edge of our bookcases (two of them, full to the brim, not with books, but DVDs - we're fanatics) and also that's wallpaper on the floor. It was being used as birthday wrapping...Don't ask...

Photos all taken by me on a Samsung phone. Hairstyles took varying amounts of time.
Didn't use tutorials or anything as I went - I just know a variety of braids and winged it. I don't have a rat-tail comb or nifty gadgets, just a very fine toothed comb and elastic hair ties. But Cousin's hair is awesomely curly (literally hangs in perfect ringlets) and she has flyaways, so I should've used some water spray, too...

Cousin belongs to cousin - she might protest at any attempted kidnap.
Barbie Horse is mine - mitts off.

Looks most epic. I need to figure these out to do for my little sisters! And they need to know too, because when someone does anything with my hair I feel really good.

Thanks Gotta love braiding

Some of these are simpler than they look, and if you know how to french/dutch/fishtail braid then you can always try doing them on yourself. If not, youtube is a treasure trove for tutorials
