Phew, okay, a set of Purity Trials for Askila-Deamon of their Sethos , featuring their other kiddo Villtur Andi . Ngl, very pleased with the second one.

And then some additional story snippets cause I felt inspired, and that the third one would be better understood with some explanation:

Their journey sets out on a morning that's hotter than they'd like, but with wings to carry them and send the wind curling over their backs, they manage just fine. The skies are blue, and though clouds are sparse, they spot oases often enough that shade isn't much of a concern. However, the vast expanse of glaring dunes and sand is quickly tiring, and they pass the time performing aerial tricks for their own amusement.

There isn't much life out here in the burning desert. What little there is clusters near freshwater, for the most part, and Sethos is happy to take on the challenge when he spots a cheetah lounging in the sun between meals. It doesn't take long to swoop low enough to startle it, and it's with careful ease that he drives it out into a flat sprint across the sands and away from hidey-holes that could protect it from his slashing claws. The triumph and exhilaration that heats up his gut as he digs his claws into its pistoning haunches is incredibly satisfying.

Sethos is used to the heat. Villtur is not, and she is perhaps too proud to admit her own worsening illness when she nearly drops from the heat and dehydration. Her pelt is dark and has grown in thick, accustomed to the cold of Roenden as she is, and Sethos takes it upon himself to bear his companion to the nearest oasis to cool off and hydrate. It's a lesson well learned for Villtur, and it completes the third trial for Sethos.
