how do you make such bold shadows? Like how do you know WHERE to put them, and not make it look like ish? (because when I try it's a whole different story)

what I do is think about where it should go the shadows. when I have an idea I do what I can to make it right, on many occasions I do not like how they look so I do other shadows, basically it is trial and error, in my case helped me a lot with lines as can be seen in the clothes .
