Description These are Geb's equivalent of sharks. They are on average larger than the regular piscivultuses and they're all carnivores. There are a few traits that set them apart from sharks. Few species have sensory organs to detect electric pulses but the have much better eyesight. Their bodies are shaped more like those of Earth's extinct pliosaurs, such as Kronosaurus. Unlike the Piscivultus who swam like sea lions, the Superpisce (scientific name pending) swam more like seals.

Left column from top to bottom:

Name: Filter Superpisce
Phylum:
Allobranchia
Class:
Aegrepiscis
Order:
Piscisartus
Although it grows up to four meters in length, it is one of the fastest Superpisces. The water sucked through a frontal tube passes through inner gills and is forced through their output orifice, providing amazing thrust in the water, like the piscivultuses. Its rear fins have evolved to form giant webbed-feet with small holes evenly scattered across them. These act like fishing nets: as it jets through the open ocean near Bruma, its net is tightly held together to form a rudder. Once it approaches a school of small pisces, its camouflaged feet bloom into a net, catching a portion of the school. After closing its net, it heads for the surface and climbs onto the shoreline or onto drifting ice in the spring to feed on its catch. It is mostly active after sunset. It is preyed upon larger Superpisce and a carnivorous plant known as the Killer Iceberg.

Name: Rubber Superpisce
Phylum:
Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
Found in the undersea forest and the undersea garden, it is a six meter long predator that hunts piscivultuses and smaller Superpisces. Although it has the most typical design of the Superpisces displayed above, it is unique among them in two ways. First, it is one of the few that has pores similar to the ampullae of Lorenzini found on sharks. They allow it to also detect electric pulses and find prey that hides among the plants. Second, its skin has a peculiar content that makes it feel like rubbing ones hand on a car's tire. And just like the tires of a car, the Rubber Superpisce is immune to electricity. It needs this feature to hunt its favourite prey...

Name: Flying Superpisce
Phylum:
Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
A meter long predator that feeds on small piscivultuses and marine pararthropods. They mostly hunt close to the surface where their color scheme makes them hard to spot from above and below. It is however preyed upon by several larger predators. To escape danger, it will increase in speed and leap out of the water. Using the powerful wind currents, it literally glides away from the threat until it eventually drops back up to 100 meters further away.

Name: Crawler Superpisce
Phylum: Allobranchia
Class:
Aegrepiscis
Order:
Piscisartus
A relative of the above Filter Pisce, this specimen gave important clues to the origin of the Superpisce. Growing at two meters in length, it is significantly smaller and more lightweight than its relatives. It feeds on smaller piscivultuses, eggs and marine pararthropods. To avoid being eaten themselves, they haul themselves onto dry land and rest before returning to the water. Before Geb went into an ice age, it went through a swamp age period, where the weather was warmer and the climate more humid. Back then, the Superpisce were amphibious and looked like over sized toads that hunted smaller prey. As the weather got colder, the Superpisces retreated to the ocean and most became fully aquatic.
The Crawler Superpisce still maintains a mostly amphibious lifestyle and its body was designed to cling onto drifting ice. Unlike the Filter Superpisce, Crawler has a symbiotic relationship to the Killer Iceberg. The plant protects it from predators and the Crawler provides it nourishment as it feeds onto any parasites latched onto its body.

Name: Sword Superpisce
Phylum: Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
This open water predator grows up to 5 meters in length and has a similar lifestyle to Earth's swordfish. Its long flat mouth is composed of sharp scales and extensions of its radula act like sharp barbs. Using its powerful neck, a common feature among the Superpisce, it swings its weapon through schools of prey, and proceeds to swallow anything that was stunned or sliced.

Name: Electric Superpisce
Phylum:
Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
One of the smallest Superpisces growing up to only a meter in length, but also one of the most dangerous. As its name suggests, the Electric Superpisce is capable of discharging a high voltage of electricity similar to Earth's electric eel. Its hunting ground is the undersea garden, where many other colorful aquatic life forms live to blend in with the flora. Once prey is within range of its electric field, it discharges, stunning its prey and allowing it to eat at its leisure. Although it looks like it has a small mouth, it is capable of swallowing prey larger than itself. Electric Superpisce are one of the most advanced species of Superpisce as its rear legs are even more closely fused together than any other species. It is hunted by the Rubber Superpisce.

Right column from top to bottom:

Name: Axehead Superpisce
Phylum: Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
This is Geb's equivalent of the Hammerhead Shark. Growing up to 9 meters in length, it is the second largest Superpisce. It swings its head from side to side to hack at schools of piscivultuses that swim close to the ocean floor, its main hunting ground. The axe can also be used to pin down larger prey to the ocean floor where the Axehead Superpisce proceeds to tear it apart using its radula. Aside from being used as a weapon, the axe also helps support the Superpisce's long neck and head. Its long rear fins allow it to steer as it swims. The armor on its back may look like a shell, but it is actually several hard scales clustered together like a chain mail. This allows the Axehead Superpisce to maintain its flexibility.

Name: Great Knight Superpisce
Common Name: Bat Kraken
Phylum:
Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
This is the largest Superpisce on Geb and also the most dangerous. It is twice the length of a Great White Shark and can weigh seven tons. The sharp appendages on its upper jaw are not teeth but hyper sensitive skull extensions, similar to those of the Cranidons. It allows the Great Knight to sense the movement through the water of its prey. Although it will occasionally feed on small game, it prefers to hunt for animals larger than itself such as the Ganymede Pisce and the Ultrapisces. Once it has located a vulnerable animal that has separated itself from its pod, the Great Knight circles it to check for any defense mechanisms. Once it feels safe, it lunges towards the animal and gores it in seconds using the sharp knife on its forehead. The victim then bleeds to death and the Great Knight begins feeding. This apex predator is solitary and two individuals meet only to mate or compete for territory.

Name: Long Fin Superpisce
Phylum: Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
This specimen follows the Superpisce formula very closely as it has an elongated body, a pointed snout, four webbed-limbs with the two rear ones arranged closely to each other and a radula shaped like a sharp bowl at the bottom of their mouths. The Long Fin hunts in open water for medium sized piscivultuses and also hunts at the surface for Firmupennaes and Pteropods that may roost on the water surface. A unique feature it possesses is the ability to spot prey directly in front of it because its eyes are tilted forward. Its long fins allow it to make sharp turns in pursuit of prey.
One may wonder if long webbed-limbs may make these predators vulnerable to counter attacks. While it is true that predators or rivals will strike at the forelimbs, any Superpisce, including the Long Fins, can defend themselves by folding them close to their bodies. Although the fins are good for steering, most Superpisces can also turn while swimming by simply flexing their bodies.

Name: Corpse Superpisce
Phylum: Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
One of two Superpisces that lives in fresh water, the Corpse Superpisces was the first species to be discovered alive. Diving explorers actually thought it was dead and went to have a closer look only to be startled when it sprung to life and attacked. Thankfully, it lashed at an opportunistic fresh water piscivultus, its main source of food, and the explorers weren't injured. The Corpse Superpisce grows at 4 meters in length and if the only Superpisce to have what we could consider a dorsal fin. It is meant to look like loose flesh, and also smells like rotten meat. It sits and waits in the murky river bottoms waiting for scavengers to fall for the bait. The color pattern of its back is designed to look like ribs.

Name: Lion Superpisce
Phylum: Allobranchia
Class: Aegrepiscis
Order: Vespertipiscis
The second Superpisce to live in fresh water and also one of the noisiest aquatic animals on Geb. By living in deltas in the southern hemisphere, its environment often becomes murky due to mud being washed down in the spring time. Its eyesight is weaker than other Superpisces as well, so it needs a different method to establish territory or find potential mates. Its digestive system works very slowly, allowing methane to build up in sacs close to its stomach. Occasionally, it will emerge its whole head from the water and start belching. It is the most vocal of the Superpisces and one of the few animals on Geb capable of making a sound through its mouth. It has skin aligned around its mouth to form cheek like structure that help amplify the sounds it makes. This allows it to make loud roaring sounds similar to a lion, from which it gets its common name. The Lion Superpisce can grow up to five meters in length and the armor on its back help protect it from earthbound predator that may fish around the shoreline. All Superpisce armor and weapons are a collection of scales fused together.
