Description This is my boyfriend and I in Fry and Leela costumes that I constructed for ComicCon this year. They need a little bit of work, but mostly I'm happy. I actually found a pattern for Fry's jacket that was about perfect. I almost didn't have to adjust it at all!

Fry, Leela, and Futurama in general belong to Matt Groening... who asked us for our picture when we met him at the Bongo booth.

Actually, we've met him a couple of times. He recognizes us when we see him now, whether we're in costume or not.

I know. I was originally using my boyfriend's t-shirt as a reference picture and I think that the picture is turned around. Either that or I decided to make it for the wrong arm because I knew that I'd be more comfortable walking around all day with my right arm free. I can't remember.

Nice costume! How'd ya make Leela's boots and wrist thingy?

Thanks! The construction story is long and involved, but basically; The wrist thing is made out of a light-weight air-drying clay stuff that is made by Crayola painted and glued together with hot glue, and the boots are an old pair of motocross boots that I was amazed to find in a thrift store for about seven dollars. They are also painted, and they have craft foam glued on them covering up all of the raised logos that the boot company saw fit to grace them with.

I love thrift shops, so much cosplaying potential.

Oh, I know. Although they failed me in the red Fry jacket department. I had to make that one myself. It was a good experience for me, though.

Thanks! The pose took many many shots to get right, but it's definitely my favorite one that we did that day.

I dance ballet, so it could have been worse. But those boots are really heavy, so it could have been better too.
