Heya peepz
I finally got permission to sumbit the drawings I made for the RPG book Eden: The Deceit
SO!
This race is called Palawa'. It is one of the playable races in Eden: The Deceit:
It is the easiest to compare him to original goblin in other fantasy games :3 There are major differences though
But you can see that when the book comes out The race itself with the Maas(next drawing I will upload) called as Blackskins.About the drawing itself, it was a really nice challange :3 I still have issues with drawing fire though
But in overall I'm pleased how the sitting old man turned out :3Oh, before I forgot to mention, yes, they are usually smaller than a human ^^

@.@ I love the details in the hands though the drawing would be so much more cool if you added details to the face/head of the spirit thing . . . Very well done!

Well I don't wanted to add too much detail to the spirit, because it is made of smoke and it can't be too detailed by that way

Hm . . . Yeah, but with the nature of smoke, the defined head is . . . well, too defined. There should either be more of a blur and less of a definition or more details to justify the definition of the shape of the head. And yeah, it still looks amazing. (what artwork of yours doesn't?)
I'm . . . busy and really trying (and failing) to focus on grades. I really need to raise them back to the straight A's I used to have.

Well, nothing serious with me nowdays... I do my school ( we build a kite ... xD as a webdesign class... rofl), don't have much to do with it. And I try to get a job
Though I lack contacts, I try to poke my italian friend (same guy who I work with on the RPG book), because he mentioned that he can get me some contacts. Some friends of his ^^

The detail on the hands is incredible. Hands have always been something difficult for me, made easier by my tablet and LOTS of layers and lots of erasing. The fact you can do this on paper with traditional materials and not have the fall-back of layers just amazes me. A true talent.

Well... just get a good referece like I did, and "only" you have to do is to use it well and make that hand :3
The advantage of CG art is that you can erase and fix things way faster
Still I'm fine with this material :3 And I guess I would be a true beginner with CG art xD

holy cow!! I want to read this book just because the illustrations are so great!
I just LOVE the way you made the smoke curl around him and form like that!
the only suggestion I would make about the fire is maybe it should "curl" more right at the bottom so that it's not just coming out of the ground. Maybe you could make a little more wood chunks at the base, and have them look more like logs instead of boards (don't know the story but assuming that these guys are not civilized enough for boards??) MAybe a couple of rocks around it to define the fire area - and that would help to cover up the bottom also, if you are still having trouble with it where it meets the ground.

Note that this is my first attempt for drawing fire
I guess it has serious issues still with reality but I think this was the closest I could make it for now xD
I will try to practise this... drawing fire is really a hard one
Must admit that it looks a bit... odd maybe xD Meh, I still need to improve fire-drawing xD

I don't know if I've ever really drawn a fire.......... I can't remember. I think that your flames and the smoke especially are really great! I hope I didn't over step by making those suggestions - I just find sometimes, well, for me anyways, that if I am working on something and having a hard time with it, I just get so involved that I can't seem to think of any alternative ways of doing something. THen I look at it months later and think 'oh! why didn't I just do that??? duh!" or someone else will say something and it gets me thinking again.
Plus - your art is so great - you totally kick my ass so why am I offering you advice?!! LOL

I mostly get "OMG this is good" or a "nice" type of comment that I can't use as critique at all xD
Not all people take its time to write a full critique.
Besides, you will find that sometimes a total non-artist offers the most useful hints and tipps xD Usually my mother and my brothers are my best critiqes, bcause they don't look at my work as an artist would, so they can judge some things that I may just look over on xD

I use my family and friends often to check things out too. But most of them arent' that interested in art, so they dont' have a lot to offer most of the time.
