I actually did this before the 700th dev for portfolio XD;; Anyhoos!This is my character Phaela, she's a forest nymph/spirit/thing XDD Hahaha. Well again, I've been experimenting with styles and I liked this one a lot. I drew the flowers from observation, we had some fake ones around so I used those
Oh, and she has a prince, who's a leprechaun XD I drew them both on a bookmark for our school's drug-free bookmark contest. If I get it back I'll post it too >3

I'm trying to figure this out: do you ink and then color, or vice versa, and at what point do you color the background?

I always ink then color because my sketches are dark/smudgy/messy, haha XD;;
And I usually color the bg after the characters.

I love her hair, and all the flowers. Her face seems a little too wide, though... I thinkit's mostly her nose, the curves are a tad too far apart for a normal nose.

I love the colors, and how you used the light sky and the dirt to offset the brightness of everything else. The flowers also look really nice, with the curling of the petals and all. My favorites are the purple-and-white ones in the foreground.
All the details in her design look really good, but my favorite part is the flower-and-double-leaves on her shirt. They look nice and bright against the dark green shirt (another fav part), and dang, even the vines have little leaves on them!
You drew her features very well, I like the cartoony style and gaaah, nice mouth! I've always had trouble getting lips like that to look right. I also like her hands, especially her right one with the fingers playing with her hair! One thing I noticed, though, is that her left arm is slightly longer than her right and the elbow looks off, it's too far down. That's the only thing, though, because everything else looks spot-on!
