Description
This one's a bit different than my usual character focused pieces and as such, proved to be an interesting challenge! I was commissioned to paint a scene based on an excerpt from an original story and I had quite a bit of fun with it! It was a great learning experience, making me more aware of how I should progress to improve. I hope you like the illustration!

Here's a bit of the excerpt:

"Two women wearing flowing dresses – one light aqua and the other a rich purple – walked arm in arm along the docks. Their hair was plaited in five sections with two looped around their heads like a crown and the other three dangling to halfway down their backs. Near the front of the picture, Gran drew a child roughly my age. He was skinny and short and his clothes looked ripped and old, but the cheeky grin on his lips had me smiling too."
