Another speed-painting I did for practise and fun only. Really like how the little one turned out.
Somehow I really got my way with small birds.

I was a bit surprised when I figured out the english name of this little fellow here. Why, because the term "kingfisher" fits perfectly well and actually even better than the german term we use for them, "Eisvogel" (= "icebird"). We call them icebirds because of the shiny and glittering metalic-blue feathers they have.
There's a silent area with a small river running through, located in the next town, close to my village. There, I still can watch kingfishers hunting during spring- and summer-time when the young fishes travel through the river to the bigger lakes we have in that town, too. Of course, when you see one of those lovely birds, you're really lucky, for they became quiet rare. but when you see one, you sure will notice and stay to see what it does.
