The Steppes, no doubt. From what I remember about what I've seen on National Geographic and the like, pretty similar. Minus the mountains, of course. Maybe actually closer to places like Nebraska.

Still like the painting.
Wish I could handle a paint brush that well. Especially watercolor. Never could get the hang of it.
