I was intrigued by the dwarfs in this one and the more worn out one as well...
Curious if this is like... Buddha prior to his meditation or even maybe an incarnation of Shiva
(but no Nandi bull, so perhaps not) or even a different king.... hmmmn... So reminiscent of
places further east from here...

I think that, these dwarves lived on this island in the ancient times..

If you knows buddhist stories, you can find it, by the  crown of seven snakes  on his head...

I don't know it...

Possibly...

Hmmmn, I didn't know of it, but researched it, and usually,
the crown of seven snakes protected Buddha from the elements
of rain and sunburn, etc etc, while he was in a transcendental and
meditative state for long periods of time... soooo... why he would
be standing and whatnot is a bit peculiar of portrayal of him...

It's been so long since I studied this stuff, though, however, Sri Lanka
was rarely a part of it... mostly, it was China, Japan, India, Cambodia...
...of the main ones I recall... that we studied in this class I took a decade ago...

Probably, Buddha  traveled through to the eastern world..  in all their incarnations

It's a distinct possibility... he did come back to teach medical stuff to one of the nations,
hence there is a depiction of him called the "Medicine Buddha" too...

Yeah, by the legends which i heard on there, Buddha brought to Srí lanka, for their king. Some lotus flower and sacred ficus...

They sure don't teach everything in these classes, huh?
That's a little bit different from the medicine Buddha I'm referring to,
and likely does entail of his travels, something he did often as Prince
Siddhartha, prior to recognizing/seeing suffering of others for the first time,
which prompted his meditative mindset in the first place...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhaisajy…

Anyway, he holds a pot and a lotus flower in this depiction, and has blue skin,
typically.

I'm glad to here this.
Hope you're sleeping well, still.
Tried answering your note... you're so sweet, but my draft that I saved
is very long and detailed, and I want to be sure I'm saying the right things
to you... so I'll be replying to it in my morning time, likely when you're out.

And um... had I seen one of your other replies sooner,
Anyways... I need some rest now myself... you will likely have a few more
replies Monday, if not when you wake up, maybe when you're home, although,
I think I'm only home after work around about 00:30 a.m. your time, or 30 minutes
past midnight.

This could be interesting, to say the least!

Maybe, I interested about these little dwarfs and nobody knows whether they really lived...  People found these ruins in the jungle.

PapierowySzczur In reply to Takiako-Nakashi [2018-08-22 13:56:24 +0000 UTC]

I think they might be just people depicted that way, not necessarily dwarfs.

There would be bones. Also, dwarfish creatures are common in many folklores and mythologies.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PapierowySzczur In reply to Takiako-Nakashi [2018-08-23 15:24:27 +0000 UTC]

Well, dwarfism occurred everywhere.

Takiako-Nakashi In reply to PapierowySzczur [2018-08-23 19:25:19 +0000 UTC]

Maybe before ice time

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PapierowySzczur In reply to Takiako-Nakashi [2018-08-24 11:33:51 +0000 UTC]

before Ice Age? Well, dwarfish species of man were found in Asia (Homo floresiensis on Flores island in Indonesia) but they went extinct around 50000 years ago. I think it isn't enough for such expanded appearance in culture that has at most 8000 years. I think it might be some sort of depiction of hierarchy. In Europe, in Medieval Age, social status was often depicted by size. Short priest was depicted as high and tall pheasant was depicted as short (or even dwarf).

Takiako-Nakashi In reply to PapierowySzczur [2018-08-24 11:41:15 +0000 UTC]

Yes, maybe you have right,  but is possible that, some civilization was  before ice time, maybe before 50000 or 100000 years..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PapierowySzczur In reply to Takiako-Nakashi [2018-08-24 12:07:43 +0000 UTC]

I don't think so. Oldest known civilization is dated to start around 8,000 ago or before our age. One of the oldest known city (not civilisation) is Jericho, built 11,000 years ago. People started to form villages in late Palaeolithic Age, around 10,000 years ago. It's when agriculture started (both farming plants and domestication of goats).

The oldest known settlement is Jebel Irhoud in Morocco, 315,000,000 years ago. It was community of people living in caves, not settlement in "modern" meaning.

Yes, because older things did not preserved,  all things on earth are recyklate in time..  Neanderthals or Denisovans they could have a civilization before ice time and than glaciers  destroyed everthing and there have been too few people in the world for a next civilization....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PapierowySzczur In reply to Takiako-Nakashi [2018-08-24 13:47:29 +0000 UTC]

Glaciers didn't destroy everything. There are many remains from Ice Age in Europe. There are many tools, which suggest rather small hunting societies of Neanderthals than civilization. About Denisovans we don't know much, mostly genomes of few of them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Takiako-Nakashi In reply to PapierowySzczur [2018-08-24 15:15:56 +0000 UTC]

YYes, because all civilizations were  destroyed before  and small hunting societies can't make civilization, you need many and many people for work on this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PapierowySzczur In reply to Takiako-Nakashi [2018-08-24 17:23:02 +0000 UTC]

The fact that there were no civilizations found and the fact that there was glacier don't make proof that there was ever a civilization. Also, Neanderthals lived to the south from the glacier, even in current Israel. Glacier didn't get to southern Europe.

Takiako-Nakashi In reply to PapierowySzczur [2018-08-24 19:04:43 +0000 UTC]

I have no proofs, it's only hypothese. Before 100 years people though that, the earth is flat... and now you know everything,  congratulation
