Description If you've never heard of this plane it's because the plane never made it past the prototype stage. Only a few various prototypes were made in the Luftwaffe's attempt to make a "flying wing" aircraft. the final product would've had 4 30mm cannons, and most likely have been used as a bomber interceptor.

In the picture above it just destroyed a Boeing B-17G flying Fortress.

I don't think it would have worked as a fighter. Flying wings need high speed to fly stable and also are not very agile as well as unpredictable in dogfights.
However they do have a very long range and can carry a lot of load for their size because everything about the plane generates lift. As well as being stealthy so that makes them excellent bombers.

no they're not. They are fighters and they weren't designed for stealth, that came as a nice bonus.
It was intended as a fighter. They were also designing a larger bomber version but they never got to finish it.

This looks very similar to the UFOs sighted over Washington state in 1947.

probably the USAF testing to see is the design was feasible as an aircraft.

they didn't test this plane but they made their own versions of it; the Northrop YB-35.Β They made 4 prototypes and they worked fairly well. The airforce was thinking about buying it but it proved too unstable and too hard for the pilot to control.

yes, I am aware of the YB-35 and its grandchild the B-2; however, I would think the USAF would have tested the design's worthiness for fighter duty in off-the-record tests.Β

I doubt it.
The YB-35 was far too large for that and I don't know if they ever seriously considered a flying wing fighter.
