Description
Dragon, Lord of Lightning and Storms.I tried watercoloring again! Always a dangerous idea. The scanner picked this up really blurry (had to scan it in several pieces) so you're not actually seeing the real result - I'm not 100% pleased, but probably 95. Which is a lot more than 0.
Many tricks were used in the execution of this piece.

I love dragons. This piece is downright beautiful. The colors, the detail, there's so much to this to catch your eye.
I love the detail you put into the man. The metal parts of his clothing really shine through, and his red/pink robes are so soft and flowing. I really love the dragon. S/he's just somewhere between scaly and furry and you can really find a line that separates it. I also like how the two characters here have matching colors. It makes them look like one single element. Almost like a shape-shifter or a man with a dragon avatar. The sky is beautiful too, and compliments the central figures beautifully.
Great job, I'm faving this.

two weeks, though it was probably only 10 hours of actual work time total, if that. Mostly a lot of drying and waiting and working my real job in between time.

well I can see why iy would take so long to do so and because with watercolours it takes ages to dry and I think it really amazing bit of work I wish could do something like this

it also takes me a long time because of a 24 hour day, only about 3 or 4 of those hours are actually mine to do anything with.

what happened to my roommate who couldn't use watercolor and made me feel better about my skills?! Haha. No seriously, this is really good. Your watercoloring has improved by leaps and bounds. Good composition, good color sense (like that's ever been a problem), good use of non-lined illustration. Really, a very good piece. ^_^

Wow, this is amazing. The dragon reminds me of Haku from Spirited Away, ever heard of it? Again, this is just amazing.

No, I've obviously NEVER heard of spirited away, because I'm NOT a huge miyazaki fan . . . .
Except that haku (and most traditional asian dragons) usually have legs like birds rather than scaled legs like this.

But if you take the time to look, there's a lot of differences. Or at least, I see the differences. To me they're both modern interpretations of a legendary creature.

Wow, it's amazing!!! Just beautiful. I love the colours. Watercolour totally hates me >< I tried it loads when I was in school and I never got a good result. The clouds and fur are just beautiful, I can't stop looking at it. Great job!

the only reason I occasionally get good watercolors is because I'm too stubborn to admit I'm terrible at them. So I'm actually getting decent.
That and it took 2 weeks of very patient painting for this piece.

This is briliant work, matey. the color use is so vibrant. I am reminded a bit of Haku with the dragon. Haku is, if you are not femiliar, from Spirited Away. An excelent film and one I recomend to anyone who likes fantasy and asian style myth and dragons XD

I figured you had, being that the dragon has a striking similarity. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Miyazaki. It was cool. Look, there's no reason for the "eye roll" additude. I was pointing out a similarity that brought back memories and attempting to share that, and believe it or not, no everyone has seen it, and so it's a lot to assume that you just have and you know what i'm talking about. >.<

You know what I think is funny is how stupid and childish a 22 year old talented artist becomes when given a computer to feel safe and secure behind. Kinda gives you the right to be the mouthy little brat you seem to truly be, unabashed. You should be ashamed. And by the way, this isn't just influenced by Haku, it's down right ripped off, but I was being kind because I liked the pic and it brought back good memories. Sad that. Those memories are gone thanks to your additude. Just one more socially inept person hiding behind talent, I see and it makes me sad, because in seeing the concited person behind the work, the work loses it's luster to me.
