The Pope Jean Paul II visited Baku in 2002. During the visit he blessed the cornerstone of the church this image were taken in. The former Baku Catholic church were destroyed by bolsheviks (communists) in the Proletcult period.
The Pope also visited the memorial cemetery where the fighters against communism and for Azerbaijan independence laid.Β
