I love ancient mythology, and only recently (since moving to japan) have discovered a love for japanese lore. Although what i find interesting is the contrast this legend has with another perhaps more well known legend, from a completely different corner of the world! I'm refering of course to the legend of the thunder god, Thor. He too battles a giant snake, but unlike susano, isn't so lucky to survive his encounter. Though he takes the snake (jormungundr) with him. The legend of susano is by far my favorite, and you have done a masterful job of bringing it to life. Thank you.

I can at least answer the question about the rabbit and the moon. You know how a lot of people (Americans at least) see a face when they look at the moon? Well, when the Japanese look up, they see a rabbit wielding the hammer in Yumigami's scene.

Cool! I, regrettably, learned about Shinto myth from the game, but I've really gotten into ancient gods. Why can't modern religions be this awesome? Two thumbs up on the picture, and I love the detail in Susano's armor.

kinda like how knowing Greek mythology makes you wanna grab the writers to Disney's Hercules, and just ask them, 'WTF Mate?!?'
honestly, they messed up so many random things, HECK, they used his Roman name, not his Greek name Herakles.

Yeah, and how Zeus was a freaking manwhore, a HUGE asshole, and a hypocrite while Hera hated Herakles and wanted him dead. Plus the fact that both Zeus and Hera were SIBLINGS makes it even worse!! Makes me want to see the looks on Disney's faces if they didn't know that. Then again, I grew up on the "Hercules" so I don't mind.
If it were deciding between Shinto myths or Greek, I'd pick Shinto despite my well knowledge in Greek Mythology. There's so much drama. Too much drama that it drives me crazy. Always makes me end with, "Can't they all just get along?"
