Backstory:
Nobody truly knowns where Rinzei has come from, only that he was suddenly there. The area where Rinzei was found was the Nara region near one of the mountains, an area where Oriental Ballators were only part of ancient folklore. Until Rinzei's discovery.
Found by a Shinto priest, Rinzei has been found to share a very special connection to the man. Whilst his predatory instincts and wild behaviour still remain, the priest his calm and patient personality has rubbed off onto him. Whilst Rinzei loves the solitude from wandering around the mount Miwa, he is not shy and will not back away from the occasional hiker wandering there. Because of this, Rinzei has increased tourism in the area, whether it was the Ballators choice to do so or not.
Rumors say that if a hiker has reached the top of mount Miwa, Rinzei will be waiting there, bellowing into the skies once the hiker has completed their quest. The bellowing is rumored to scare off any predators or evil-doers that could harm the hiker on the way back down. Because of this, Rinzei has earned the nickname “Speaker to the Skies”.
Despite Rinzei coming into contact with a lot of humans, no human has been able to get more then a blurry picture of him which he intents on staying so. The only human he has bonded with so far is the priest that raised him and found him, yet even then the Ballator roams the land visiting the priest every once in a while.
Rinzei has a deepfound respect for all that is nature, as was taught to him by the priest. Despite him having no way of knowing if there were some Ballator deity, Rinzei’s eyes often gaze up to the sky.. Having the feeling that one of his kind is looking out for him.
