This is a scene when Bao Xing ran to the woods after his father died, when he was 19.

Bao Xing was returning from the food market, along with medicine for his sickly father. The snow was thick that winter, like every winter. He liked how his feet sunk into the snow leaving a trail of foot prints behind him. Or how every breath puffed out like smoke. But this winter, he couldn't help but hate it. As winter progressed, and the days and nights got colder, his father's illness grew worse.

He cast down his eyes at the snow, wishing his glare could melt it. Sadly it wouldn't though, no matter how hard he tried; it wasn't like he had godly powers. So he huffed, and raised his head and watched the crowd around him, watching others as they passed. He was almost at his house, trudging through the snow, walking as fast as the white dough would allow him.

Minutes passed, but he eventually got to his front door. He slid it open, engulfed by warm air from the fireplace. But he suddenly felt worriment overwhelm as he slid it shut. His Mother and little brother and sister were sitting beside their Father; she was holding his sickly Father's hand. She looked back at him tearful. The message processed through his head, but he didn't want to believe it.

"Come here, Bao Xing." His Mother spoke, motioning him with her hand to sit with them. He lost the grip of the food he was carrying and hastily went to her. He knelt with them, taking in his Father's appearance. His face had lost its color, and his eyes were tired and lost some of their light.

"Father" He whispered to get his attention. His Father turned his head towards him, breathing a sigh.

"My son" He said in a hoarse voice "I don't have much time left."

"No.." Bao Xing shook his head "No, you're going to be alright, I even brought the medicine" He said in disbelief.

"Bao Xing, listen to me.." He said becoming short of breath. "You are going to soon..have many responsibilities"

"Father" He called out, his words choked behind the tears that began to fall.

"I love you, my son" He said putting his hand over his son's and tightened his grip with the strength he had left. He closed his eyes and took his final breath.

"FATHER!"

Days passed after his Father's death; Bao Xing couldn't face that fact though. He frequently ran to the woods to sit next to a tree to get away from the memories in town. But one day something amazing happened. He hurried up the slope of the hill, went to his usual spot and pulled his knees to his chest. He buried his head into his knees and let the cold wind chill him. He couldn't handle being at home, not when his Father wouldn't be there anymore. He tried to fight to it back, but the tears forced their way out. His eyes puffed up, and his cheeks reddened from the chilling cold, and soon he could also feel the sleepless nights coming back to him. His tears kept falling after minutes had gone by. His eyes got tired and heavy too. And before he knew it, his back rested against the cold bark of the tree, and eyes closed shut; his mind swept away into a dreamless sleep.

Time passed as Bao Xing slept. His breath ghosted in the cold air and his body relaxed. Something sauntered over to the 19 year old. It wasn't frightened by the sleeping human boy or intimidated, but merely curious as to what it was doing. The Snow Leopard was either brave or stupid as it got closer; less than a foot away from him. It took in his scent, feeling no aggression or intimidation from him.

Bao Xing slowly came to, but was half awake as he felt warm breath grace his skin. He opened his eyes just enough to make out a pair of large pale and spotted paws next to his feet. Still waking up from his sleep, he wasn't frightened but fell back into nothingness. When he woke, he thought he had dream't it, but the paw prints in the snow lead him to believe it wasn't. How remarkable, he thought, and out of character it was for a Leopard to come down from the high mountains, much less come so close to a human. He was bewildered as he touched his cheek where the Snow Leopards breath had touched, and blinked away his sleepiness.
