Description
Name: Wickley
Alias: Wick
Age: 37
Birthday: 27th January
Gender: Male, He/Him
Species: Hybrid
Faction: Fighter
Rank: 057
Experience: 22 years, both in solo and team missions.
Nationality: He couldn't tell you if he tried. If anyone has access to his files, the human half of his heritage is Romanian. Alien half is a warring tribe known as the Khuudain.
Sexual Orientation: Never questioned/explored.
Status: Taken
Personality:
+ Calculating: Wick tries to be efficient. He doesn't like having to do things more than once if he could get it done in one fell swoop, so he tends to plan things in advance or find a shortcut to things.
+ Curious: He tends to be intrigued by things he hadn't seen before or things he hasn't tried before. While he won't immediately want to try something, he likes learning about new things.
+ Unflappable: While not 100% unflappable, it's often difficult to get a reaction out of Wick. He considers it a positive thing. If appearing unfazed by things could lift morale or if it makes him more approachable to others who may need someone to talk to, he'll take it.
=Considerate: He's not 100% human, but ensuring people around him are fine makes him happy and also doesn't inconvenience him. Win-win!
=Respectful: In a way, this was conditioned into him, but he finds nothing wrong with respecting people who deserve it, especially in the environment he's in. Besides, if he respects the people around him, chances are they'll have some form of respect for him as well, right?
= Disciplined: Where his work is concerned, Wick carries out his duties to a tee as much as possible, unless his laziness kicks in and he ends up being a little sloppier than usual.
- Lazy: While a capable person, Wick would like nothing more than to do absolutely nothing. He does have that nagging voice in his head that tells him to get up and make himself useful, but the long years of being a Luminaire made him appreciate the simple bliss of doing nothing. ...This does mean his living space is often messy though.
- Standoffish: At first glance, Wick's resting face makes him not the ideal person to approach for anything. When he's feeling especially lazy, he may say things that cause people to be put off of asking him for anything, too.
- Extremist: More of a negative than a positive in Wick's case. He's generally a pretty mellow person, but when he loses his temper, he really loses it and when he puts his foot down on certain decisions, he could easily put himself in situations where fights break out.
History:
Wick's story could be summed up very quickly; he was an unwanted child who was thrown back into the 'machine' that created him and has led his life being a cog in the grand scheme of things.
Wick's parents were both Luminaires, a human woman under the Shooter faction and an alien under the Fighter faction. They were teammates, yes, but never had any intention of having children together. However, they were paired via the Pairing Program to produce a child that would hopefully inherit both their best traits. The pairing was a success and a hybrid child was born. The problem was, neither parents wanted to take care of the child. The father was more beast than man and due to the fact that he was from a race of warriors, refused to raise a child who wasn't even able to stand on its own and hold a weapon. The mother was an accomplished Luminaire and wanted to focus on her career more than to be stuck shouldering the burden of being a single mother.
They turned to a mutual friend and after a long discussion (with many threats courtesy of the unwilling father. It was par for the course for him, but it still didn't make the experience any less unpleasant), the friend agreed to take the yet unnamed child off their hands, effectively adopting the baby. The parents went on with their lives at this point while their friend cared for the baby. It wouldn't be for too long anyway. The trio had agreed that it would be a waste of possible talent if they were to let the child grow up a civilian, so within days of being born, the child's future was already determined; the moment he turned 5, he would be enrolled into a GΔCT training facility.
He was given the name Wickley and for the next five years, the child would simply be cared for in such a way that he would be able to grow up relatively normally, though his 'single parent' largely left him to his own devices. Coloring books, toys and interactive games on tablets would be his friends as his adoptive parent would often brush him off if he ever wanted attention. "Grow up", "You can't rely on me forever" were common phrases he heard from the Luminaire.
So he stopped looking for attention.
He was 5 when he was enrolled into the training facility, all according to plan. The little boy possibly felt nothing when he was left there. To him, it was normal. His 'parent' not being there was not much different from all the time he spent being ignored. Wickley was in a more interesting place though, once training began. Suddenly having so much to do and having people expect things of him flipped something inside of him, and for Wickley, things could only go up from here. The skills he inherited from his parents shone through as he was put through test after test. His physical results were consistently outstanding and Wickley showed that he was quite intelligent if he put some work into studying, but like all children, Wickley didn't like studying very much. Maybe when the information presented to him was interesting, he'd study. Otherwise, he'd cut corners.
Wickley graduated from the training facility when he was 15. He was a little sad that it was time to go, mostly because the few friends he made in the facility still had a bit more training to do. Wickley graduated with the rank of #65.
For the next few years, Wickley's rank rose rather quickly. He excelled largely in missions that required him to neutralize, eliminate or capture his targets, working well in a multitude of environments like the predatory beast his father was. He relished in the thrill of the hunt, and there was ever a need for a more difficult mission. Maybe a stronger target. A craftier target. Something or someone whom he would want to sink his fangs into and savor the hunt more. The highest rank Wickley ever attained was #17. He was 20 years old and almost a feral beast that constantly needed someone to leash him.
The rush died down though. Much sooner than he though it would. He had wanted to go higher, reach new heights where the battlefield was concerned, where missions and skills were concerned... But as time went on, everything just felt more.... boring. Perhaps he's seen too much too soon, considering that he really had no life outside of his work as a Luminaire. But with little left to pique his interest at a time where he was deemed a valuable asset yet not valuable enough to assume a higher rank (possibly due to his track record of recklessness), Wickley began to slow down. If nothing was left for him to sink his fangs into at the top, what else was there to do? What else did he have outside of missions and work?
Hobbies? What are those?
Family? People kept talking about them but he failed to wrap his head around the concept of it...
Friends?
....Friends?
Where were the people he met along the way...?
As things turned out, he had rushed through what little of his life that he knew of that he didn't stop to look at his surroundings. The people whom he called friends either distanced themselves from him, considering him some animal who was only in it for the glory and rank, or they had long since met their end in one mission or another. He just hadn't noticed that they'd been gone. Just like how...
...His adoptive parent never looked back when he first entered the training facility. Just like how his own parents never even named him when he was born.
Wickley had much to think about.
He grew more mellow since then, taking more routine jobs and no longer actively chasing high-profile ones to raise his rank. Speaking of rank, that had been on a steady decline. From the high horse of #17, Wickley's rank dropped to #29, to #43, #50... Then it stopped at #57 and 17 years had passed. Wickley had picked up some hobbies. Made friends in passing. More importantly... He still had much to explore.
Engineering:
- Heat Vision: A trait Wickley inherited from his father. Normally activates when there is low visibility, he can see differences in temperature around him. This vision may be blocked by obstacles like trees, walls or doors. His heat vision is only clear in a 20-foot radius. Anything outside of that is blurry and may 'melt' into the background to him.
- Enhanced Touch: Through his hands or feet, Wickley can pick up vibrations through the ground and determine the size of his target, how many there are as well as whether or not something may be dangerous.
- Enhanced Strength: His stature definitely helps.
- Forked Tongue: Not just a cosmetic thing. He can use it to smell like a snake would, enhancing his own sense of smell to pick up on scents that his regular nose cannot.
- Fangs: His teeth are very much human in number and position, but they're more pointed, like a predatory animal would have.
- Enhanced Endurance: On top of his physique giving him great strength, Wickley can take a mean beating. Depending on the strength of his enemy and the weapons being employed, he may be able to stop certain types of bullets or blades.
- Scales: Some parts of his body has scales that can protect him from a certain amount of damage.
- Tail: Mostly used to keep his balance. Wickley may also use it as a weapon when possible to be employed.
Weapon: Obelisk
A large hammer that has an adjustable handle. It may be wielded one-handed like a regular hammer or two-handed with an extended handle like a sledgehammer. Also comes with a laser 'ice-pick' extension on one side.
Martial arts: Systema. Perfect for the beast that adapts to anything nature throws at him.
