Very cool mask. I would love to play with some dramatic lighting on that.

Thank you. Yes, if I had the time (or the ability) perhaps I would've tried something like that. Half the time it is hard enough to get the proper lighting to photograph with.

Have you tried using something like a lamp without its shade? It would help your camera too. You could get great shadows and your camera wouldn't have to work as hard. Your pic has has some motion blur and high ISO artifacting/noise because of the low amount of light it has to work with. Just some friendly suggestions

No, thanks for that, but I have done all those things in the past -particularly the shadeless lamp, and even with many lights,I can never get the intensity. The camera isn't horrible, and it is more than likely me, but I never take nice pictures.

Well you sculpt a lot better than I ever could. Do you sell your work? If you do it might be worth your while to partner with a local photographer.

Also, from my experience, intensity is best brought on by as few lights as possible. Such as one sharp key-light directly below a subject to get those intense shadows.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

Mache is not really a sculpt all of the time. It is something you get better at with time. I want to get into different types of sculpting because I am interested in greater detail.
Your ideas are all really good. I guess when I photograph the pieces, I really aim to show it like a product. I do sell a few pieces on Ebay, but not entirely successfully. Thanks for your comments and advice.

A buddy of mine is pretty heavy into sculpting. His page is [link] I'm not sure how often he is online in DA but He might be willing to part with some of his 'advice' lol. Oh and regardless if mache is true 'sculpting' or not, you have talent.

Thanks again. I don't have your friend's talent. He seems to use different clays depending upon the piece. Some clays you need an oven to bake when you are finished- or a kiln- neither of which I have. When I get the time I want to learn other materials, but I am still restricted by the tools I can use.
