Description
This man, a shepherd in the Zagros Mountains in the West-Azerbaijan Province of Iran was kind enough to pose, enduring the photographic attention quite serenely. He combined traditional clothing with modern equipment (such as the boots, useful in a terrain with very thorny plants). The sheep kept their distance, and eventually decided to leave, so the shepherd had to rush of after them.Related content

Great shot! His boots are a lovely touch! Encounters with local people are always a great element of any journey though, to be honest, I am often to shy to engage with people and I am angry with myself afterwards... thank you for sharing!

Thanks! I know the feeling: it feels a bit awkward to ask people to pose. Fortunately the shepard was very patient (as are many of his compatriots, some of whom asked our group first whether they could take photos of us, and one guy just wanted to be photographed by everyone on the site, without asking more in return than appearing on a photograph).
