Description
This was the one that started it all, the first quest I completed! I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted Rayu and Avani side by side, staring at the stars. So cute. So romantic. So... questionably background-ed. It's not horrible, but I feel like it's a lot flatter than it should be. Urgh. I think the stars look pretty nice, though they might be a bit bigger than they should be. Also! I only did shading on this one- I used a dark blue multiply layer over my kids, then erased where the light should be and blended the edges to make it all softer. I think it turned out pretty well, though the back of Rayu's head still bothers me.

After the sunset faded, the world grew both quieter and louder at the same time. It was too early in the year for cicadas by far, but as the birds fell silent, crickets began to sing and the wind hsssssshed gently across the hilltop. Rayu shivered at the slight chill bite in the breeze. Winter wasn't quite done with them yet.

Rayu's heart swelled as Avani wrapped her soft fox tail around her, shielding her from the breeze, and she laid her head against Avani's shoulder. What did the cold matter when your heart could keep the world ablaze? She gazed out at the millions of jewel-bright stars set into the purple and blue sky, utterly content, until she slipped into sleep and dreams that could hardly match her reality.
