What do you use to make your models? I love them, especially this one!

Oh! And the curtains were actually corrugated paper purchased at an art store and then painted to look like old velour.

What do you use for the stairs? I have trouble making stairs and yours look great!

I actually print out the carriages and treads/risers from a drawing- paste them up to bristol, and cut them out individually. The treads get glued to the carriage one at a time with white glue, and then the risers get slotted in similarly. It's a bit of a tedious process, but seems to be the only thing that makes them look like stairs! Another short cut is to use micro-cut balsa wood at the proper depth for treads, to save a lot of cutting.

Thank you! It's in 1/4" scale, so I use 3 or 4 ply bristol for the walls and spindle sections, and basswood for the newel posts (with some added bristol buildup). I usually draft all of this by hand, then color it in Photoshop and print out the elevations for the model- the same is the case with the doors and floor- they are all flat paper surfaces with printed dimensionality. The furniture is purchased & painted, and is made of cast metal.

The set for this is a tall order for any smaller company... 7 slamming, working doors, a structural piece that holds the weight of actors effectively, and then turns around at intermission.
