I was so thrilled when I first found out about the new reprint edition of the English Sailor Moon manga, as well as the very first English print of the Codename: Sailor V manga, it had given me the opportunity to start collecting and reading more volumes of Sailor Moon manga, to continue on the whole story (especially since the first volume, has been the only volume that I've ever read & owned from the older Mixx/TokyoPop/Chix Comix print, for over a decade now), and also, I no longer have to consider doing research and ordering more (of the older) volumes by Mixx/TokyoPop/Chix Comix from Amazon or eBay anymore, for the time being.

As for the old Chix Comix Sailor Moon book, a whole bunch of the pages in the book had fallen out, and I've been having some troubleshoots with trying to put the whole book back together, though I was able to get a least nearly half of the pages back in, as I'm sure that you can tell by the elastic band wrapped around the book. It was something that my mother & sister bought for me, while they were shopping at a bookstore at the mall one night, as a little surprise gift, along with Volume 8 of the Sailor Moon novels, Sailor Moon: Diamonds Not Forever.... and, as for the 7th Volume, Sailor Moon: Cel Mates, I actually picked that one out myself, during a daytime trip to the mall with my mother & sister, a while after receiving the 8th Volume.

My very first Sailor Moon book to ever own, which was also the very first Sailor Moon product for me to ever have, was the 1995 North Amercian Sailor Moon Play-a-Sound book. My mother and I found it at Walgreens, my mother purchased it for me, and I started to read & enjoy it when we got home, to think, if I still had the book today (in which I'm not quite sure if I do any longer), not only would it be featured in this picture, but most of all, it would definitely be considered the most special part of my whole Sailor Moon collection, since not for being the the very first Sailor Moon product for me to ever have, even before my first Sailor Moon doll, but also since the book is considered a "classic", considering that the book was made & released back in 1995, the year when Sailor Moon was first introduced in the North American shores.

More to come...

So am I, even though I often see the older version of the Sailor Moon manga on Amazon.com, but many of them are overpriced, which is why I'm happy about the new version of the manga series being available, so I can start a whole collection of Sailor Moon, by collecting each volume that comes out bi-monthly (according to Kodansha, the publisher of the new Sailor Moon manga). One of my favorite parts about collecting the new books, is that they cost under $10, unlike the older books published by Mixx/TokyoPop/Chix Comix (that would now cost over $20-$50 or more for certain volumes, according to Amazon.com).

Thank you for your comment, I truly appreciate it!

Hahahaha, oooooh my I also own 'Cel Mixed" and another one with Usagi on the cover. I remember even noticing how silly they were as a kid...one book mentioned Serena listening to a Jennifer Lopez song, haha. Ooooh what they could sell to kids. Bless my parent's hearts for buying me them.

Also, what I forgot to mention in my response, was what I found surprising yet interesting about the 7th volume, "Cel Mates", is that there was an alternative cover featuring Usagi/Sailor Moon with Chibiusa/Rini together, therefore, when I start collecting more volumes of the Sailor Moon Novel series written by Lianne Sentar someday, I now may consider on getting another book of Volume 7, just for the alternative cover featuring Usagi/Sailor Moon and Chibiusa/Rini, but I will still keep the book that I've always had with the cover featuring Minako/Mina as Sailor V.

Even if they were kind of silly to certain people who read them, I actually still enjoyed reading them, as well as the older print of the english Sailor Moon manga by Mixx/Tokyopop/Chix Comix, since for a fact that I was a fan of Sailor Moon (and still am, of course), and I was so glad to have received them. However, even though I've only owned two volumes from the series for over a decade, as in today, I actually am now considering on collecting & reading more volumes of the Sailor Moon Novel series (especially the ones that I haven't owned nor read before) in order to complete the set, in which should be easy, since I found out that the prices per volume are pretty well priced on Amazon.com, not too expensive and exactly how much I approve paying for (paperback) books, in fact, I just discovered that most of the them cost under $10.

Wow, Serena listening to a Jennifer Lopez song? I wonder which book that was mentioned in? If not in one of the only two books that I own (Volumes 7 & 8), then I would still find that to be quite a funny yet interesting fact in my opinion. One quote that I had found to be quite funny & also kind of cute at the same time, in the 8th and final book ("Diamond's Not Forever"), is where Serena's teacher, Ms. Haruna called her by "Miss Head-in-the-Clouds" as she was caught day-dreaming in class.

I'm so honored to own these Sailor Moon books, as well, and am very happy with each one that I have (so far), no matter what.

And I agree with you there with the original English manga where the pages would start falling out (even if it hasn't been used very much) and that the renewed English manga are made of stronger material. As I looked in the book for Codename: Sailor V, it says it's published in Canada. Which country were the original English Sailor Moon manga published?

Well, as I recently looked in the book for Sailor Moon Vol. 1, the original English manga by Tokyopop/Mixx/Chix Comix, it says that it was actually printed in the USA.

Yeah, and I'm glad neither one were published in China. It's pretty disappointing that the original English manga were published in really cheap material that wouldn't last very long. And if a book were published in China, I wouldn't buy that kind of book at all.

I've had that problem with the chixcomix sailormoon volumes also!

Very first day I owned volume 8 most of the pages fell out! Within the first hour of reading it! Ugh!

But yay! Codename: Sailor V is out!

It seems to me that plenty of people who own/read the Mixx/Tokyopop/Chix Comix editions of the Sailor Moon manga, would have problems with the pages felling out of the book soon or later, so it must be really common, thank goodness that the Kodansha edition books are more durable, that way people don't have to worry about any pages falling out!

I was very impressed to see Kodansha being interested in translating Codename: Sailor V to English, and having it released on the same day as the revival of Sailor Moon. I've actually finished reading both volumes of Codename: Sailor V, and also volumes 1-2 of Sailor Moon, I do plan to get & read upcoming volumes of Sailor Moon, especially volumes 3-4 & onward.

I just got the 3rd Sailor Moon manga at Wal*Mart about a week ago. I was shocked to find it there and quickly snatched that sucker up! ^^

I also heard that the Anime is going to be redubbed and re-released back in English. They already have most of the cast returning I know the girl who played Sailor Moon is already among them so we'll at least have her iconic voice back! ^^

Here's hoping they'll eventually do the Stars Season. It's been over ten years since I signed the S.O.S. petition but I will gladly sign again if it comes up.

lol i know. i fell in love with new binding. i will be rebuying my copies that are in aweful condition. i actually rescued my copies from my local library. they knew i was into the topic of manga and just gave them to me before they were a total lose. I wish publishers would do these better bindings for all the manga publications. It is very saddening to see these copies go to the trash because of poor bindings just beacuse they want to make quick money.

Me too, I absolutely love the new artwork used on the covers for the renewed Sailor Moon manga, they are so beautiful! The re-print is fantastic, I truly enjoyed reading it, in fact, I've actually finished reading volumes 1 & 2 of Sailor Moon, as well as both volumes of Codename: Sailor V, and I hope to get & read upcoming volumes of Sailor Moon, especially volumes 3 (which was released 3 weeks ago) and 4 (which is set to be released next month, on March 13th).

I was also happy about the reprints since I didn't like the Mixx translations, and my previous SM manga collection (which was a mix of Taiwan, HK and Japanese releases, vol 1-18... got flooded a couple of years ago along with my other manga...Man I cried over my collection that I had since 1995... ;_.

It was also cool that SM now is under it's original publisher, and I'm really happy about the translations, and currently have the 3 vols. released. If only they released Rayearth next... XD

Surprisingly, the way Mixx/Tokyopop/Chix Comix produced the books were somehow made to be read in the American style of reading, instead of having readers to start from the opposite direction, as how manga is intended to be read. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your previous collection of Sailor Moon manga, do you miss it?

I completely agree, it was very interesting to see Sailor Moon be held under the license of it's original publisher, Kodansha (of America), I'm also really impressed to see them have the interest in translating Codename: Sailor V in English, and have it released on the same day as the Sailor Moon revival. I've actually finished reading both volumes of Codename: Sailor V, and volumes 1-2 of Sailor Moon, I do plan to get & read upcoming volumes of Sailor Moon, especially volumes 3-4 & onward.

Yeah I do miss it... SM Vol. 3 was my very first manga (I had to feed on ham sandwiches for lunch just have enough money to buy it when I was still a student... XP )

So much for Nostalgia...At least I can recollect the whole set again!

That's cool that you got a set of the Sailor Moon manga, plus Codename: Sailor V. I have only the first volume of Codename: Sailor V which I bought at Barnes & Noble. One of my sisters used to own a set of the original English Sailor Moon manga, except it was published by Mixx (which was later renamed to Tokyopop). I also bought Volume 1 of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon renewed English manga as a graduation present for a friend of mine who was graduating from college. And once again, you have a very awesome collection. ^.^

I'm so glad to own both volumes of the "Codename: Sailor V" manga, along with Volumes 1 & 2 of the Sailor Moon manga (reprint edition), and I hope to get & read future volumes of Sailor Moon, especially Volumes 3 (which was released 2 weeks ago, on January 17th) and 4 (which is set to be released next month, on March 13th).

Somehow, I've only owned the first volume of the original edition of the English Sailor Moon manga, the book that I have actually has the Chix Comix label printed on the cover, but includes the Tokyopop label on the back of the book. It was very nice of you to give Volume 1 of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon renewed English manga, a college graduation gift to a friend of yours, I'll bet that he/she truly appreciated you doing that.

Thank you very much, I'm so glad that you like my collection.

My pleasure. ^_^

And did you know that with the original English manga of Sailor Moon, they like heavily edited or removed some elements so that some people who bought it (regardless of age) wouldn't embarrass their parents and such, but that the renewed English manga keep the plotlines very original and closer to that of the Japanese version? One of my sisters told me that about the different versions of the English manga saying that the original English manga has less original plotlines in contrast to the renewed ones that are a lot closer to the Japanese versions.
