Is it an original or replica GT40? Either way it is cool looking!

My guess is it was driven in by a spectator/buyer/seller, and it's likely a replica. No GT40s were offered this year at Scottsdale according to their website.Β  The color is really dynamic in the lighting conditions, whatever actual color it is.

I had a feeling it was a replica. Thanks for answering my question, really appreciate it.

Take a look at the number 4 car that raced at LeMans in 1966, and you have that Ford Bronze:

The number 5 car was more of a gold/bronze color:

All I know is those colors were pretty much official Ford colors available on just about any Ford in 1967. You just don't see them much.

You're welcome. I had a nice session a couple of weekends ago at the Simeone Museum with Shelby expert Greg Kolasa that really covered a lot of the GT40 story. A lot of the street GT40s were deliberately painted to look like the race cars, even had numbers stuck on them to use as Ford promos in the period.Β  Heck Grady Davis raced his at Sebring. I think this is one of the more attractive schemes myself.

That reminds me, I have more pics of J-8 and XGT-1 to upload. I'd better get to work!
