Description Stained glass concept art commission by ~CommodoreMarie , depicting her sheep-goat hybrid char "Moo" entangled in the knotwork roots and branches of a gnarled olive tree. Moo has swirly tattoos on his shoulders, rump, upper legs and brow, and I had the tree roots and branches merge into them as well as the ends of his horns. The little circles on his ear and in his nose are meant to be piercings, and the little emblem that looks similar to an owl's face is actually a stylized monogram of a capital letter "M" and two little "o"s, for his name. (I purposely didn't add any connection lines to that, just in case she may want to have another symbol or something else there.) Anyways, Marie will be making this piece in color herself; you can see some of her stained glass work here (amazing stuff!): [link] and [link]

The design is amazing. I love how everything flows so well within the circle.

Being at least somewhat experienced at using stained glass, I am kind of cringing at all the detailed pieces. If she can pull them off, I'll have to be speechless and in absolute awe of her skills.

I could picture this work being absolutely spellbinding with the right color patterns: the linework is quite literally hypnotic as it is now... I'm looking forward to your friend's take on it: she has a knack for vivid color mixing that makes certain accents jump out and slap you in the face (like the highlights for the peacock tail, for example).

So yeah, if you two manage to mix your slow, swirling linework with the luminous pops of color... I think you can see where I'm going with this... it will be worth keeping an eye on (both waiting for, then staring at, the final product )

Yep, I'm sure hers will turn out amazing, with her keen sense of color, and choice of glass types. I'll post a link here in the desc whenever she's done with it.

That is incredible. I didn't even notice the sheep goat until I full viewed.

What I love the most is how you were able to keep all your lines elegant and interesting. I know with trying to create lovely patterns like that, that it isn't always so much all the lines that can be difficult, but continuing to make them all flow together so perfectly.

Amazing job.

Aww, thanks, hon. It was very difficult to keep all the lines flowing well, nicely separated, yet all connected (since the solder joints have to be), and not looking too cluttered overall. I made more mistakes than I can count during the sketching of it!

Beautiful balance, here. I can see this as an absolutely stunning stained glass window. Good luck to Marie.

How long did this take you to create? This is so perfectly rendered with constant line widths, which most people find a challenge to use in a design. Perfect for simulating stained glass solder joints... wow.

Thank you! It took me about a week to draw and ink, then another week to do digital editing/clean-up to make the lines all crisp and neat. She said she wants to start working on it right away; I can't wait to see her finished version!
