Description I did this bird for my final project in Art I (in high school). I was happy with her, but I wish that our school had been able to afford real watercolor paper so that it wouldn't be so wavy and waterlogged. If there's a way to get rid of the wrinkles and creases, I'd really like to know.

She was a bird from a magazine ad for binoculars. I love a challenge, so she was it. I had so much fun drawing her. (Okay, so it's probably a he.)

But boy was she some bratty thing to scan. Six pieces, so much cropping, pasting, copying, and lots of waiting for my computer to handle the memory.

its a shame that they couldn't afford watercolor paper

at my art class, for an "impressionist painting" project we had to use plain paper (but bigger.. but paper) and lousy tempera paints. but for our next project, a really dumb construction-paper cutout one, our teacher bought tons of extra special expensive construction paper. it didn't make much sense to me, oh well.

i like the colors you used, and the bird because i have a soft spot for birds

Yes, with this art class the teacher wasn't really expecting anything to come out of it that we might want to save and cherish, so it really is a shame. I do wish this could have been saved, if not only for sentimental reasons-- my first watercolour.

I also have a soft spot for birds. They are my love.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on this old deviation. It means a lot to me that you took the time to do that

What a beautiful painting, even if the paper is wrinkled. I think it was worth all the time you spent scanning it .

Thank you. It really was a bug to scan, but I'm happy I did it, too. And thanks for adding it to your favorites.

I've had two people tell me that the wrinkles give it "character." Heh.
