The afterparty celebrating the premier of the year's most anticipated superhero blockbuster was always going to be amazing.
Following the release of their much-anticipated Ubergirl movie, Onpyh Corp. had paid for the complete cast and crew, their close friends and families and five lucky, competition-winning fans to spend their night in the Onpyh Royal, perhaps the fanciest hotel on the entire planet, with an open bar, and diverse and delicious buffet to follow the first ever screening of the finished movie.
It had everything you could have possibly wanted; spectacular, thrilling action sequences, lots of funny moments that sent chuckles rippling through the theatre, an adorably passionate romance subplot between the titular heroine and her girlfriend, an epic soundtrack blending pop hits with original composition and, of particular interest to you, one scene in particular where Ubergirl - played by the charming miss Katherine McNamara in what was sure to be her big breakout role- was hypnotized to obey the commands of Laura Vandervoort's villainous Empress, until her beloved Aella (arguably the most controversial casting of the entire movie. Right from the moment her involvement in the movie had been confirmed, most the community had been hoping for Teresa Palmer, and there was much outrage when supermodel Doutzen Kroes got the role instead...but, having finally seen it, you honestly couldn't imagine anyone else doing a better job) had managed to snap her out of it with a kiss.
You'd heard rumours throughout the production that, in preparation for her role, Katherine had seen a professional hypnotist, and her acting in those scenes didn't just look genuine...and that her wide eyes, dazed expression, soft, sleepy tones and slow, gentle breaths had all been the result of a completely-real trance. You weren't sure but, regardless, that scene had been a definite highlight of the movie for you.
You'd been looking forward to the movie ever since Onpyh had announced that it was actually happening. You'd entered the competition as an afterthought, never honestly expecting that you might win...and now here you were, with a night in the fanciest hotel you had ever seen, and as much food and drink as you could manage, all for totally free. Better than that, you'd seen it. You were among the first in the world to see the Ubergirl movie, before even professional reviewers and major celebrities, and now here you were, mingling with the people who had made it happen.
As you wandered around the party, feeling totally in awe of everyone and everything around you, your eyes settled on her...sat on her own at a table in an elegant blue dress, her strawberry blonde hair falling effortlessly in waves across her shoulders, a cute little smile on her face as her fingers nimbly danced across the screen of her phone, she couldn't have looked any more like Ubergirl if she had tried. There was no doubt; Katherine McNamara was perfect for the role.
Fuelled by your own hopeless, desperate adoration of her, - a crush the whole world would soon share, once the movie released in theatres, you were sure - and perhaps a little too much alcohol, you decided to go and talk to her. Unwilling to give your courage the chance to abandon you, you politely cleared your throat the second you were within earshot. Katherine looked up from her phone, smiling as she saw you.
"Oh, hi! You're, uh, one of the competiton winners, right? What did you think of the movie?"
Oh, wow. She was even prettier in person...

As a few of you know, I dedicate (probably) way too much time and thought to picking celebrities to fill the role of characters. Like, in an ideal world, if I was making a movie and had unlimited resources, the actress I'd pick for the role. Since most characters tend to look different depending on who's rendered/drawn them and, obviously, renders/drawings don't have sound, I guess it helps, for when I'm reading, to have a specific voice and face and stuff in my head for each character.
I went through a few different Ubergirls before finally, completely by chance, while bored and looking for something to watch on Netflix, I stumbled across the perfect one.
(and that was before she got hypnotized by a vampire in the third episode of the show, and gave us one truly delightful Hypnotized Face to seal the deal)
I figured it was time I finally did something with these casting picks. And, short of actually making a movie (which, y'know, if you guys were willing to help fund it...kidding, kidding. But, seriously...), this is pretty much all I've got.
