loomlake
[TW's for misgendering, unsupportive parents, therapy, and police brutality near the end]

Morgan had never fully lived outside of the closet. While she lived with her mother and father, she felt that her orientation simply wasn't something that needed to be discussed - up until the point she felt that, no, she wasn't a boy. She felt estranged from others, because not only did she feel herself to not be a boy, she didn't feel herself to be fully a girl, either. She suggested to her mother one day that she was a girl, and even though it wasn't the full truth, her mother welcomed her as her daughter with open arms. Morgan's father had never really been a big influence on her life, mainly due to him working from 8 to 7, but the glares she received from him, accompanied by the passive aggresive misgendering broke her heart. She loved him fully, but he refused to accept her as anything other than his son. Morgan's mother immediately introduced her to knitting, as her family didn't currently have the funds to buy her a new closet full of clothes, and her father would most likely continue to buy her ones that didn't match her presentation anyways.
Right from the start, Morgan loved knitting. She loved the different types and colors of yarn and she loved all of the different techniques to make something new out of nothing. She turned to it as a coping method eventually, as when she entered her teen years, her mind started to play tricks on her, one could say. She heard sounds others didn't, and every now and then her brain would manage to convince her that the government was after her or that everyone wanted to hurt her for some reason. Her mother was very concerned about her health, and eventually took her to once-a-week therapy. Morgan hated it and hated her therapist, as he would constantly hint to both her and her mother that her feelings about gender was only a side-effect of her mental illnesses. She eventually had to beg and plead her mother to not take her anymore, and after 4 months of therapy, she convinced her and they no longer had to go.
When Morgan finally moved out of her parents' home, she pursued a diagnosis - primarily so she could go on medication. She was told she had schizoaffective disorder, and afterwards, received a once-a-day prescription for the delusions and hallucinations that she coped with. Her life didn't immediately improve, as she had to pay hefty amounts for a new bottle each month, and she still had to deal with the stigma and ignorant comments that come with being mentally ill, but she was content. She eventually set a goal for herself, towards opening her own clothing shop in order to support both her and maybe even her parents when they grew old and retired. She was currently working as a clerk at a store a few streets down from her. It was one of her favorites to visit with her mother as a kid, as the yarns and silks they sold came in many colors and patterns and designs. She was very close to being able to afford quitting and opening her own store when the police entered her home.
Morgan didn't put up much of a fight. She knew very well how badly the police treated mentally ill individuals such as herself, and she had no desire to be slammed to the ground and held there until she could be restrained for doing something as simple as moving her hands too quickly. She was allowed to bring what she had left of her medication, but she wasn't told whether or not she would be able to get more at whatever place she was being taken too. Despite being very civil, she was still taken very forcefully - she probably received a few bruises on her arms from the rough treatment.

the train

Being put out of her normal environment shook Morgan up very badly. She wasn't used to uncertainties and unexpected turns of events, and the sudden proposal of such things into her life caused her to shut herself out of the strangers around her. Her first few hours on the train consisted of staring out the window and mulling over what was to come - that is, until a certain opossum plopped down on the seat next to her. Marcus and Morgan started discussing everything that was on their minds once Morgan learned to open up to him, and before they knew it, the sun had passed over the horizon and the stars glowed faintly outside the windowpane.
Morgan spent most, if not all, of the trainride sitting with Marcus, generally talking and offering to be a shoulder to cry on if he ever needed one, and vice versa. When Maple proposed a rebellion, Morgan's first reaction was to think about the outcome - her pacifistic nature along with her predisposition to going along with what others tell her to do led her to the conclusion that they should sit and wait out the time they had left on the train, if nothing more than to see where the locomotive was headed.

 highholt

The first day after the train's arrival in Highholt was spent fending off panic attacks for Morgan. She didn't manage to get much work done, but she joined up in one of the rusted, broken-down houses with Marcus, Emory, and Pietro. The rest of her days consisted of long, boring hours of fieldwork and clearing the long blades of grass from the main pathways around the town. She definitely wasn't built for all of the hard labor she subjected herself to, and her health started to decline after that one bottle of medicine she had finally ran empty. She started to have more depressive and manic episodes, and while the manic ones more helped her get work done (albeit at the expense of being absolutely exhausted by the end of the day), her depressive episodes made it hard just to roll out of bed in the morning.
With the announcement of everyone's ranking, Morgan's life became a bit less social, though a bit less physically straining. She had been assigned to work in the store. She used what endurance she had gained from working in the fields to lift palates of cans and the likes. She commonly had to skip a meal or two in order to trade her rations for the meds she was now able to acquire, but hey, at least something was partially going right for her.
When it came to the choice between rebelling and staying quiet about the unfair treatment passed down by the sergeant, Morgan realized that, no matter what they did - whether they fought back or went along with a plan that could potentially harm many of the others in Highholt - someone would end up hurt, or... worse. Not knowing what to do or say, or how to get this message across to others, she did what she normally did - stayed quiet and went along with it.
It seemed that the various inhabitants of HighHolt didn't quite have the same idea as her. When the rebellion sprung, Morgan's first reaction was to freeze up. Her mind, which was racing a few minutes ago, went blank. She ended up crouching down on the ground in the middle of all the fighting and generally having a meltdown. Too many new things had happened and too many bad ones to boot, and she couldn't really take any more of it. When the fighting was ceased, she gained a little bit of her composure, enough to be led back to her shared house by a soldier - one who had a far-too-tight grip on her arm - where she gathered up the cardigan she had long since abandoned for long, hot days in the field and wrapped herself in it, despondent.

[ Roleplay Example ]: [TW for money problems and the like]
As the stars shone overhead and the the ever-familiar moon peeked up over the cityscape, Rosaline's eyes traced the jagged edges of the buildings, interrupting the flow of light from that gray orb. The flicking on and off of the windows' lights of distant buildings mesmerized her. She did this every night before going to bed - a way to calm her down, perhaps, but more likely just a way to dwindle and waste away time. Her thoughts wandered aimlessly, going from thinking about what she would have for breakfast the next morning to how she would support herself up until next month's rent. Her issues with money were constantly hanging over her head, and she always did her best to try and simply push it to the back of her mind and deal with it when the problem actually reared its head, but it would always creep back up on her every night she stared out at the never-changing sky.

Rosaline shook her head. Thinking about this wouldn't do her any good, and she had a very busy day ahead of her. She pulled a few thin, cotton blankets over her body, but they hardly helped the cold inching up her body. She sighed, and despite being indoors, could see her breath billow out in front of her. That was another problem of hers - the heat. She had forgotten to pay the heating bills a while back, and as a result, the heating to her apartment had been shut off. She sighed again - that was all her life was these days. Sighs of dissapointment, sighs of boredom, sighs of relief...

She laid her head back on the pillow, and returned to her original line of thought - that thinking about all of these problems wouldn't help her get any sleep. She rolled over on her side, shut her eyelids, and did her best to keep herself from letting those thoughts creep back up on her.

Other Information

[ Trivia ]
this gets updated every time i come up with a fun fact about morgan. check back regularly :v
    - Morgan's current occupation in Highholt is as a store worker. Her most common and most liked job will probably be stocking shelves.
    - She's a really smiley character. Essentially anything you do will probably make her grin.
    - She tries her best to be optimistic about the whole being-dragged-away-from-your-friends-and-family-and-forced-onto-a-train thing.
    - She has a really big maternal instinct and will baby everything and anyone.
    - Despite the above, she's very weak, physically, emotionally, and mentally.
    - Like, seriously. If she tried punching someone it would probably just feel like a very light tap.
    - She sticks her tongue out slightly when she's thinking hard. Sometimes she forgets it's out.
    - She can go on for hours about any kind of topic, be it smalltalk or... anything, really.
    - Morgan started wearing clothes that she made herself when she was in 3rd grade.
    - She was very insecure about essentially being an outcast when she was young, and tries to make up for it by brightening up others' lives who she believes to have the same problems.
    - She's surprisingly philosophical.
    - When she's off her meds, she'll frequently swing from being happy, cheerful and impulsive to being gloomy, quiet, and overall depressed. (AKA she has hypomanic and depressive episodes.)
    - Whenever she's telling a story and says "me and my friends" or "we all" she's probably referring to just her and her mom and trying to glamor it up.
    - Morgan is bigender, and she feels partially like a girl and partially something else. She doesn't feel it too important to figure out what the "something else" part is.
    - She prefers traditionally feminine titles, such as Ms., but will settle for gender-neutral ones as well.
    - She doesn't dislike sweets and candy, but Morgan much prefers spicy foods over them.
    - She probably could eat a ghost pepper and not feel anything. Morgan is terrifying.
    - She tends to get attatched to people very quickly.
    - Despite not being the most socially adept, she tends to make friends easily when the chance presents itself. Usually through the form of someone else starting the conversation.
    - Morgan isn't very good at thinking for herself, especially under stressful circumstances.
    - Even if she believes her ideas and values to generally be good, she'll most likely go along with whatever people tell her to do, even if it conflicts with her way of thinking.

    People:
Marcus

[ Avaliability ]
i'm currently open to roleplay! here's how i'm willing to, from most preferred to least:
    -through notes
    -through chatrooms
    -through comments
    -through deviations
    -through skype*

if you'd like to roleplay through a different method, send me a note and i'll consider it o:
if you need to get in contact with me, on every day but sunday, i wake up anywhere from 9am - 12pm and usually go to bed anywhere from 12am - 3am. on sundays, i wake up at 6am at the earliest and go to bed at 12pm at the latest.
*my skype is a very non-serious thing and i get nervous when people can see how long it takes me to type when i'm being serious so if you want to just fart around note me for my user :v

what i will and won't roleplay:
✓ PG    -    this is fine, but i'd like if you tell me beforehand so i don't slip up and cuss or something!
✓ PG-13    -    i usually prefer this rating and will usually go with it unless you tell me otherwise x:
✗ NSFW    -    i'd rather not roleplay anything NSFW because 1) i, myself, am asexual and sex-repulsed and 2) morgan is an asexual character as well.

[ Miscellanious Notes ]
    - i probably won't cover morgan's mental illnesses in a roleplay with you unless i discuss it with you beforehand.
    - also, while we're on this topic, calling morgan any type of ableist remark (psycho, crazy, insane, et cetera) will probably result in me blocking you sorry not
    - this also goes for with any transphobic and/or transmisogynist remarks and slurs

i hope we're allowed to use a roleplay example we came up with on the fly because all of my old writings are....terrifying to put it lightly
who is rosaline? i'm not sure but i hope she is ok
im still a bit sketchy about making her mentally ill but i spend enough of my life pretending to be neurotypical and totally a-ok all the time so Why should my characters be neurotypical tbh
IM ACTUally really pumped about this character i love her and she is my child please understand
i also really love the whole concept for this group?? hot damn
i haven't applied for anything this big in forever and i'm excited tbh....

the application base was made by Mackoolzie and the app itself is for
*thumbs up emoji*
