Description "Visions of Hope"
I photographed this amazing waterfall in New Zealand (Purakaunui Falls). It was an incredible place!
Model: Emy Joyeux

In all of my artwork, I, Susan Schroder, am the artist and photographer. All elements of my work are original to me.
I do not use stock photography or stock art.
I am the photographer for all background elements and also the model in the image.
The fantasy effects that are not photographic are digitally painted by me, as well.

I Like your work and also your statement that all of the work is yours and that you have not used stock images. This is how it should be and not as many are a collage of other peoples work.

Thank you for posting such beautifull images

Thank You...Thank you!! A great deal of the joy in creating this type of artwork, for me, comes from doing
all the photography! I am always encouraging other photo artists to do the same....photo manipulation would be greatly elevated as an art form if more people would work this way. In the world of art, I am always battling to be taken seriously because the first assumption is that all photo manipulations are done with other peoples stock images.
I truly appreciate your comment!

Yes this is true.I have in the past used stock images but I feel like I''m cheating I want full control of the clouds of the background of the model. If what I produce is rubbish at least it is all my rubbish and perhaps some day I can produce something great which I constantly strive to do, usually failing , by my standards at least. As was said in school the boy could do better and that hopefully is what I am trying to do.
I love your work and wish you all the sucess that can come to you.

Blessed be in all you do

Peter

Thanks for the compliment. I choose not to use stock imagery because, as a photographer, part of the joy in creating my work comes from taking the photographs as well.
I also have a strong background in traditional arts (painting, drawing, sculpting) so, I have always felt a strong need for my work to be entirely original.
To be quite honest, it has been my experience through speaking with publishers, licensing agents and so on, in the industry that photo manipulation as an art is not generally considered in the same 'ranking' as traditional arts because of the widespread use of stock art.
I am always taken more seriously in the industry when I promote my work as all original elements. While I am absolutely not criticizing any artist for using stock art, I always encourage fellow photo manipulation artists to consider using their own original photos.

I love the blending of the colors in this. You created a magical scene but made it look so in tune with nature that it feels more real. A wonderfully imaginative and beautifully done work of fantasy.

I very much appreciate the detail of your comments...thank you!
The reason I enjoy creating fantasy images with real photographs is the sense of blurring that fine line between what is real and what is fantasy
