Great sense of motion. And I really like the palette used (red vs cyan)

This is most DEFINITELY one of my favourite pieces of Gambit fanart. If not my favourite. It's just so...perfect to the way I've always envisioned him for my stories.
I especially love the eyes and hair.

Thanks! I wanted him to be like Gambit, but also my reinterpretation of the way he is drawn. I liked that, in the comics, he's often drawn with a thin face and a wide smile, but I don't always like the way he looks overall. I wanted to stick with those basics, but go for a more manga-esque style. This is kind of how I picture him when I'm reading my favorite fanfics.

Thanks...I agree. Kitsch was fabulous as Gambit, wish there'd been more of him (Gambit movie, Gambit movie... *fingerscrossed).

agree! i was expecting more of him in the origins movie, and thought it was such a shame that he had so little screen-time...
hope so too! though they are making an xmen: origins movie focusing on magneto first...

Gah. Who cares about Magneto?

No kidding. I'm so sick of him. I mean, the actor does a great job, but does he have to be the villain of every X-men movie? And I can't imagine a Magneto movie being anything other than a tear-jerker, which is totally against the tone of the other X-movies. Just move on, already. There are a zillion cool X-villains to choose from!

Thanks! I used to try to do more landscapy backgrounds, but recently I just said screw it, and started having fun with splash backgrounds. It's kind of wierd, growing up I was always better at drawing than coloring, but now it's kind of flipped around and I'm better at coloring than drawing. I guess because color adds that 3-d element that helps me be more accurate with porportion and placement.

Love the picture overall. The color and pose are really nice, but his mouth seems a bit large. Not really obvious though. Maybe it's just me.

Hmmm...I never thought of him that way, but you may be right! He is constantly smirking, like the cheshire cat, but with a better color scheme. XD

Thanks! Really had fun with the colors; that's one of the reasons I like painting Gambit, he goes welll with bright colors. Its his New Orleans heritage.

Thanks! For the figure, I actually used colors from the back ground then played around with saturation--kinda weird that the hair turned out trippy, but the skin looks almost normal, isn't it?
You should definately see the movie. I won't say it was as good as it could have been, but I really enjoyed it, and I thought Kitsch did an excellent, excellent job *fingers crossed for Gambit movie*

I could so write the Gambit movie. I already have a plot in mind... Do you think I could convince Fox to go for it? X)

Me too. That's the only thing I would really change about Kitsch's Gambit. Well, I might add a bit of french to his accent. I was really hoping to get at least one "mon amie" out of him.

Nope--done with this one. Its a bit rough, but I like it that way.
I went and saw it the Saturday after it came out. I was amazed at how many young children were in the theater. I was like "Come on guys! Bloody violence coming", but I was impressed in the end. None of the kiddies cried, and every one was very polite once the movie started.
I enjoyed the movie. I saw some flaws, which was aggravating because it could have been a truly great movie, but I get the feeling that somebody somewhere chickened out of something cool. Kitsch did a great job, though. Looking forward to the sequal and keeping my fingers crossed for a Gambit movie! Have you seen it?

I was the same way. I walked out of the theater all jazzed about the movie, then read some comments online and was like "Huh--I guess that really didn't make sense." And once I started thinking that way, it was easy to pick out the plot holes. I really blame the powers that be at Fox for that. I get the distinct impression that they kept popping up saying things like "We can't just focus on Creed and Logan! The movie needs to be more epic! Wolverine has to save the world!" or "The movie's getting too long and complicated. People don't care about the character's motivation. Let's just blow something up, and they won't even notice," or "Throw some more comedy in there--people love a good elbow-to-the-face," etc, etc. Because God forbid they made a movie too long or complicated for a 7-year-old to follow. Of course, I'm still pissed at Fox for canceling Firefly, so I may be biased. But I don't think so.
Still, the movie was good enough that there was real potential for the sequals and spin-offs to rock, so I'm excited by the idea of a Gambit movie (completely already thought of a plot they could use). I hear he signed a 3 picture deal, so we should at least see some more of him--and I don't know how they would incorporate Gambit into Wolverine's Japan plotline, so hopefully at least one of those pictures will be a Gambit movie. Although I wouldn't mind seeing him in more Wolverine movies, but if he does pop up I hope he gets more air-time, and becomes a more important character. I love the friendship dynamics between Wolvie and Remy, and the movie picked those up pretty well I thought, so more of that would rock.
I went to the theater to see the new Friday the 13th movie, and someone brought a baby there! A rated R horror movies with sex, boobies, and violence galore. And yeah, the kid was literally an infant, so no understanding there, but still...that's just plain creepy. And irritating.

yeah I hope so too about Gambit being in the next couple of Wolvie movies. However I don't see how they're gonna be able to bring Rems into the Japan plotline....
lol that end snipet of Wolvie sitting at the Japanese bar "I came to remember" -rolls eyes- soooo lame. -eugh- I hate bad scripts. I really really hate them.
omg, are you serious? a BABY watching a movie like that? That's just irresponsible parenting. No, BAD parenting!
there are some stupid people out there aye?

surrealgreen In reply to Atariel91 [2009-06-07 22:09:08 +0000 UTC]
I wish I was kidding about the baby. That couple walked in and all I could think was that kid's gonna need some serious therapy someday.
I didn't think the end scene with wolvie was too bad. Kind of cliche and totally expected--but anything with him in character is, really, since he's one of the best known comic characters ever. Why he apparently thinks traveling to a foreign country and drinking himself into oblivion would help him remember, though...
Gambit in Japan. I dunno, he did travel the world for a while after he got kicked out of the theives guild. Didn't he have a rivalry with a japanese thief named Yukio? They could bring him in that way, I guess. And since he's the only one who knew Logan from before the amnesia, Logan might latch on to him...not that Remy would be able to tell him much. So maybe some possibilities there. As long as he gets more screen time and development.

wouldn't be surprised if that baby ended up with unexplained nightmares later in life. lol. Mental scarring!!
soz I took so long to reply, been without a computer or internet for like, a month. had over 1000 deviant art messages and art alerts to rift through.
Yeah, why the hell would drinking himself to oblivion at a Japanese bar help Logan remember? He's more likely to forget WHY he's in the bar in the first place. -rolls eyes- Movie makers are so ignorant I think. They don't seem to be able to follow a plot line smooth and clear anymore. Everything has to go BOOM or someone has to come back from the dead (who wasn't really dead)..bla bla bla...
I hope they make a Gambit spin off but if they're going to screw it up....well...I'd rather no one touch the subject...
