Description I've always wondered what kind of princess would actually be able to play with a ball made of massive, pure gold.
I mean, those puny little lightweights commonly depicted in fairytale books don't look like they could even lift that stuff ...

Used some female shotputters (shotputteresses?) as reference.

Ich hab das mit der Google-Bildersuche recherchiert - es gibt gar nicht mal so wenig professionelle Kugelstoßerinnen die wirklich so dastehen. Ich glaube, das hat was mit der Drehung zu tun ... aber das gibt diesen Fotos auch einen ganz besonderen Charme.

Stimmt, wenn man mit einer Goldkugel spielt, muss man ja die Statur einer Kugelstoßerin haben! XD
Aber vielleicht ist die Kugel ja auch nur vergoldet gewesen!

zumindest in einigen märchenversionen war da von einer kugel aus purem gold die rede. aber auf der anderen seite gab's da auch irgendwo kutschen aus gold (die armen pferde!) oder echt goldenes haar (die arme kophaut!) ... manchmal bin ich froh, nicht in einem märchen zu leben.

You're totally right about that ! XD I love the contrast between the mesmerized gaze of the frog and the focused expression of the princess. It's like she is thinking "Focus Welma, you have to train for the finals !" whereas the frog is fantasizing about her strong calves. XD

thehehe, that was exactly what my boyfriend said, when he looked over my shoulder while drawing. He definitely doesn't look Schwarzenegger-esque enough, but well ... I guess that's where the magic part of the fairytale kicks in.
