Jebus.
This is only 30 percent of the original file size x_x; ...any who! I guess I should write a bit. I wanted to change flygons design slightly to have a bit more dragon/bad-assery. I made his cap-thing more like a helmet/shield and altered the wings to look more rugged and more like actual wings -- actual wings still don't function like that but I'm talking more on the lines of design elements.
The flygon you see here is the one I have in my game named Pilott.
Small edit: do note the fire isn't a single effect, it was in fact drawn free hand and colored. The effects I used were gaussian blur, overlay, and outer glow on the yellow layer of fire. All together it was about 3 - 4 layers and the bg layer. It just doesn't happen magically D8;
Some think it's a magic trick. There is no trick to drawing fire waves, just eye-ball it with what ever you got.

Took about 3 and a half hours roughly with lots of good music relaxing before i have to take off for another day of work -_o; I have like 8 days off in the span of two months 8D;; (I can still be on dA though to comment and stuff sense I work in front of a computer lol)

Wow! Many people wouldn't add that effect in with the flames. The word's not showing up... It's that radiation effect that makes the line-art a little bit distorted with the fire. It looks amazing in this image!

You know this reminds me of a battle that i once had with this kid who said he knew EVERYTHING about pokemon, so sick of his bragging, i decided to put him in his place on his own gamecube. I had an all dragon team, and flygon was one of em(my weakest in fact, with FLY, DIG, DRAGON CLAW, and DRAGON BREATH). by the end of it my pokemon team was down to my flygon and his entei, and i could swear this was the scene, "ENTEI! USE FLAMETHROWER! *smirks at me* say goodbye to your grass type

I must say, this is one of your most impressive pictures I've seen so far, you drew Flygon very well, and not only that, the whole picture clearly reflects a lot of effort you put there

Oh I didn't mean to not reply personally! I was working my way up to it... XD I seem to have difficulty properly explaining how to do the techniques I use so I am currently trying to see if I can get some sort of screen capture program so I can record tutorials and upload them to youtube. o3o
I had lots of people ask how I do my fire and it's really just a few simple steps but I see from what you gathered you did a pretty good job on it!
