and remember, lines always have two sides to them. what is helping for one is hindering for another.
"what's good for the goose is good for the gander" even though that just about the opposite it popped into my head. random movie quote there for you. can you guess where it's from? set in Savanah, GA.

it's a line from a pretty good movie called "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". it's a thoroughly southern idiom, which is why i remembered it, being from the south myself. are there any canadian idioms?
which reminds me, i saw a comic in the paper today that made me think of you and all the other canadian deviants. it's here: [link]

ah hands, one of the most beautiful parts of the body. An absolutely excellent capture and i really love, not neccessarily how dark teh arm and hands are but more the contrast between light and dark. It kind of works with your concept of "help or hinder" is hindering somethign happening actually helping. Dark and light.

At the moment verbs and adjectives escape me. I just wanted to say that I really enjoy this piece, the meaning, the pose, the work behind it.

Nice

i am the most jealous of hesi's nails...so nice and nice and..yeah. I used up all my words on my philosophy paper.

if i ignore yourhand, it's like hesi is flying. and maybe she is flying, and you're underneath hanging on for dear life. Which wouldn't be the most effective way to give someone a lift.

woah.. my mind just took a nose dive into the gutter, so i'm going to stop now.

ive been looking at hands all day today, doing a brochure for a local college, each department using a different hand gesture. Dont know why i let you know that, but this beats the stock photography hands down x)

I just thought of something from looking at this as well as the previous photo. The lines are blurred for interpretation and this is augmented by the lighting. icore mentioned wanting a bit more light in the front. And to me I think if you had done that it would have weighed the photo too far in a certain direction. I rather like the symbolism that when we are immersed in something we are often 'blinded by the light' surrounding it. What may seem perfectly obvious to some just doesn't click in for us.

Some may think that the photographer's job is to make it plainly clear to the viewer what their view is on things. This photo says to me that you have been in a situation very much like this, and you are reflecting on it. It also says to me that there are indeed situations that, even with hindsight, we still have no clue what was what.

It's amazing to me how you can take a situation like this and put an image to it.

At any rate, I would have liked to talk to ya about this one ... one to one, but I'm putting the comment here just in case I forget later.

i agree. this photo is as much about what you don't see as what you do see. i was really conscious of only wanting highlighted contours to define the image, and the rest be various shades of shadow. your interpretation is spot on

I love that this can be interpreted several ways depending on the eyes looking at it and the emotion buried within the viewer at the time. It can convey a feeling of being held back from reaching one's desire, but it can also lead the viewer to believe she is being held up by the supporting masculine hand.
There's also a sensual take, the grips of passion during lovemaking. Another stellar job

Again the lighting coming through the nails iw wonderful, it perfectly at aesthetic beauty can exist irrespective of the intention, but wasn't that what you were arguing against?

A bit more lighting in the front would have looked nice. (illuminating the fingers wrapping around the wrist) Because there is more light from above I'm thinking more restraint then clasp.

Good job though.

Do it because it's fun? do it because you have an obligation to? do it because you're used to it?

there are so many meaningless things we do...
well, I do, I guess.
i didn't realize it's different for others.
