I have this headcanon that after Rapunzel’s hair was cut and she lost her magic healing powers, she became susceptible to numerous colds that next winter. Because of her hair, she had never gotten ill as a child– her hair would cure her of any ailments from stomach flu to pinpricked finger– so this was all new to her. Eugene, having experience from growing up in the orphanage, did not hesitate to take great care of Rapunzel when she was sick. He was at her constant beck and call getting her blankets and refilling the natural humidifier they’d fashioned to help relieve her congestion. Rapunzel’s favorite, though, was when Eugene would make her hazelnut soup and then read The Tales of Flynnagan Rider to her until she fell asleep.
