Nicknames: tbd
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Birthday: December 26th
Year: 2nd
Height: 5’2
Would-be Self: Someone who can find humor in any situation, to make others feel at ease around her, as well as herself.
Personality:
Emotionless | Quiet | Stoic | Detached | Perceptive | Blunt | Nonchalant | Disinterested
She was in essence, always a quiet and reserved girl.
A shell of her former self, Hotaru does not see the importance of the things she once cared about. She goes through the motions of her day as she remembered it before the incident, as if it would somehow bring a semblance of normalcy in becoming this new person she did not know. She does not show any outward emotion and generally keeps to herself, though when others interact with her it becomes quite obvious she displays an almost uncaring attitude.
Speaking in a monotone, she seems devoid of any emotion. Hotaru doesn't shy away from people, but nor does she seek them out-- she does not like the aura of uncomfortableness that surrounds them when they're in proximity to her and realize what had happened for her to become this way.
Now with a total lack of ambition, Hotaru is apathetic to most situations and things she was once passionate about. Still, there small sense of uncertainty in what might become of her now that she sees the world and everything she has done as meaningless, which is slowly affecting her far more than her expressionless exterior displays.
Biography:
In the beginning, the girl lived a normal, happy life.
She grew up in West Otonoki to a single father named Kenji, a man who was a well-known conductor for city's orchestra. Her mother, Masami, was a oboist in the orchestra who had a fling with her father, though she did not feel prepared to raise a child and passed the baby onto the man after she was born. Though his life was busy, he adored his little girl and did his best to make time for her. Her father didn't restrict access to her mother either, and Masami continued to stay in the picture as Hotaru grew up. The two had a good relationship, despite being in her father's primary custody.
The older she became, it was soon discovered that Hotaru shared the musicality of both her parents and on her 7th birthday received a flute. Each day she practiced, yearning to improve and become a musician her parents could be proud of. As she became a skillful artist and mastered the flute, she found herself wishing that she could captivate people with her music just as her parents did, to put them under her own spell.
It was on her first day at West Otonoki High her egg appeared. A little egg with a moon motif, containing a little witch chara inside. It hatched, and it wasn't long after that she made friends at school that shared the same secret, and together they supported each other and the selves they wanted to be.
But there was something at West Oto High that was stirring, something she hadn't noticed before. Even with all the magic surrounding them, it slowly became apparent that not everyone felt the same way Hotaru and her friends did about the guardian characters. Fellow students and classmates were breaking eggs without hesitance, and with the ever present threat that they would attack anyone, it wasn't safe.
Despite the danger, she fought back. Fought to protect the dreams of her friends and her own because it meant something. So she fought.
She fought.
One misstep changed everything, and in an instant nothing would be the same.
Her egg, her guardian character-- snatched right before her eyes.
She couldn't keep her safe.
And just like that, her dream shattered.
Hotaru wasn't the same after that. Now with a vacant look in her eyes and an inability to see life the way she could before, her friends weren't sure how to approach their friend. They were hesitant around Hotaru, treating her as if she were a delicate piece of china who might break. But she was already broken, and somewhere in the increasingly familiar yet unfamiliar emptiness inside she knew her friends didn't know what to do with her. Even her parents realized something was different about her-- she no longer carried the same passion about music where she wanted to show the world what she could do, and it conveyed whenever she played. Her father came to the conclusion that the cause of his daughter's new behavior was due to bullying at her high school, and decided it was best to move her to another school with a dorm where she could be away from the stressful environment.
She didn't care that she was told to transfer, nor did she feel sad she was leaving her friends behind. The girl supposed it was for the best, so they could move on without her. Hotaru knew she would never be the same, but still, through the haze of indifference she felt something stir in the depths of her soul, and she knew that she didn't like that her family and friends were uncomfortable around her. From there a brief thought crossed her mind...if only she could make the situation feel lighter then maybe everyone would feel at ease.
She unexpectedly found a new egg beside her in the morning.
Now enrolled at Seiyo Academy as a new transfer student and with the uncertainty of what a new dream might bring, Hotaru must learn to reorient herself in this world.
Likes: music, flutes, choco pies, fragrant mist sprays, foggy days, quiet, books, maccha, origami, kites, arts and crafts
Dislikes: green peppers, Gudetama, being in large crowds for extended periods of time (she's just mostly apathetic to everything)
Extra:
- She's a very recent transfer to Seiyo, at most a week.
- Every morning she dabs a spritz of those body mist sprays on her wrist-- it's a habit she's picked up from her mother.
- She also collects said body mist sprays and has a large collection of bottles that come in pretty colors and cute shapes.
- In an attempt to cope with the new void, she's taken to sticking to the routine she did day to day before her egg broke as if it would help her feel normal.
- Though not much seems to phase her anymore, she does begin to feel strangely overwhelmed by being in the presence of high energy people for too long, or in really big crowds.
- She still plays the flute, and while still professional and clear sounding, there is a underlying melancholy tone to it.
- Her first guardian character's name was Kiiroi.
- She feels strangely apprehensive about the fact she managed to get a new egg, and for the meantime has taken to pretending it isn't there.
