The clarity in this shot is superb! I take a few surfing shots myself (I live in Margaret River Australia, just down the road from some of the best surf in Oz!) It's an amazing angle too. Were you in the water for this one? Or just on a high vantage point off to the side? You got him at the perfect moment too. I read an article on a sports photographer a while ago that said the best photos of sport are taken when the subject is in full swing, gritting their teeth! This photo is a good example of this. Although the wave is really small, it's licking at his back and there's a look of concentration on his face. Perfect!

thank you, appreciated. I was on the Venice Beach pier while I was taking this -it's a very long pier and surfers get very close to it. I never did 'sport' photo, I'm not really into it, so I haven't tried it again... maybe if I went back there could try some more of it.
