Description In the 1920's this was a cottage built by an Opal miner in the Central NSW area which was to become the town of Lightning Ridge north of Walgett. Interesting place to work and a nice breed of people!

Out of curiosity, did you use a polarising filter with this? I have one myself but havn't got round to using it. The sky is such a deep blue.

It was midday and from memory I'm pretty ssure I did... I can remember rotating it to get the right effect. Remeber they work best at a 90 degree angle to the sun.... so not if the suns behind or infront of you.

I'd go with this one...I like the distortion from the ultra-wide angle...it really works with this composition

A tough one choosing between this and Watch your head, still going with this even though I liked how the sign was more visible in the other one. Here I like how I can see more of the wired fence and the landscape, they frame the cottage so nicely. I also like the colours, it's amazing how you always get them sort of sunburned, it's like there'd be a huge stamp shouting Australia straight to my face. (:

I agree with your analysis! Maybe I could put an Australia watermark across them!

the colour contrast is great. nicely juxtaposed, the old dwelling with new(ish) plants in the planter box out front.

Great image. Nailed composition. Looks like you have significant sensor dust in upper right corner. Only noticable in this and a few other recent photos.
