That had to be kinda tricky to capture. Interesting how the headlights from the car on your side of the track didn't reflect light from the train cars and burn the image there.

Well, everything kind of worked out for the best with this shot. The car was not there during the time that the train was passing. He showed up just as the gates where rising passed right through.
The one thing that bothers me though is the lens flare. I with I had a polarizer to shoot this with to eliminate that part.

It's a beautiful photo. do you have a lens hood to help stop lens flare from stray light? I need to get myself a polarizer

I used a hood yes, but this was not light that was off to the side, this was coming right from the subject. I think I even shot this with a neutral density filter. I don't remember off hand.

This was a 20 second exposure at f/11, ISO 400.
