Buddy I started to do manipulation in year 2009. Then my teacher was Internet now too. These manipulations are the hard work of One & half year. I spend my lot of time from 4-6 hours a day for this. When I came to DeviantArt (half year ago) then my skill was polished more than past time. There are many wonderful artist. I saw their art and try to learn something from them. And still learning.
I'm not good artist. But behalf of my knowledge, giving realistic touch to your manipulation is important. How it possible? The answer is perfect lighting, Shadows and Colors contrast. First try to gives your picture a good lighting, from where it coming. Give shadows according to lighting . Colors is the very important part of this. The picture whole mood depending on it. Try to play with Color/Balance, Hue/Sat..etc and Layers Mode.
