Even though I love the two characters (Lapis and Peridot), but their "loving couple" isn't really my cup of tea, especially the fandom that is more toxic than relations between Jasper and Lapis, which makes me hating Lapidot even more. I simply viewed them as friends. As a Steven Universe fan who really cares about a story driven plotline in this show and the one whos also dealing with an everyday presence of Lapidot fandom, I wanna say something. 

I would've support their "loving" relationship if they at least worked out their chemistry. Unlike Ruby and Sapphire, these two barely even talked their way out to each other. Yes Peridot did apologise her but it was only for once, all the rest are (I hate to say this to Lapidot shippers) pile of useless garbage. The two "couple," most of a time just bitch and argue throughout their entire screentime, which is a complete waste. All of them makes me thinks that Lapis should deserves more to Jasper than Peridot. In a matter of fact, during the early seasons , Peridot is also one who took Lapis hostage, and also the one who was trying to kill off the Crystal Gems which includes Steven, making us wonder to think if Lapis would tolerate this, I mean after all, she keep saying she'll do anything to "protect Steven." Even though the Malachite fusion was one of the most clueless way to "protect Steven" in fact it would even make Jasper stronger. 

Anyway, not only Peridot kidnaped Lapis and tries to kill the Crystal Gems, but even after her redemption arc she couldn't even felt guilty for contacting Aquamarine for crying out loud. After Malachite fusion, I was expecting for Lapis if not Jasper, but a least a Pearl would've made more sense to ship with, but no, all does Lapis gets is ending up is with Jar Jar Binks equivalent of Invader Zim. Before you say something, I don't really hate Peridot as a character infact I'm really glad to see a redeemable Peridot, but shipping Lapis would be no reason for their relationship especially what Lapis have been through. Right now, they might not hate each other, but certainly not in love with each other. Again, I see them more as friends, not some clueless romantic couple.  

I can tolerate if the crewuniverse want to go for the romantic side of the show, but they could've just gave them more character development and more cooperation between the two characters in the following episodes, that would help to build up their chemistry, but instead no only they skip the chemistry (which wasn't meant to be there in the first place), and wasting their screentime together, but they put this recent romantic crap (in response to growing Lapidot fandom) completely out of no where. I see more chemistry between Amethyst and Peridot then Lapis and Peridot. I hope you understand where this coming from.
