I really like the wings, especially the little armour/cover thingy at the top. Whenever I draw angel wings I feel the urge to put armour on them somewhat similar to that. Plus, you gotta love the general lineart and concept. Superb!

Actually interesting you thought of the mermaid tail, because that was actually my first thought before i decided on a skull thingy! XD
And it's actually supposed to be a tree trunk with skulls embedded in it...not sure yet tho, but guess it'll come out clearer once i CG it X3

Now I hate to lable artwork as much as the next guy.. but let me just say that this 'type' or 'style' is not something im usually a big fan of...
...that having been said im really friggin impressed with the quality of this drawing - the elegance and depth of the line work is amazing - much much respect this is one of my fav. pieces i've seen on this site!
