DeviantArt stabbed its Core and it's bleeding all over the floor!The steep raise of the premium core membership is hurting this community, but it doesn't mean we have to let it die! (Or murder it, like some are trying to do...)
Less people will be able to buy Core Memberships for themselves or gift them to others. It will affect contests and groups like dAWishingWell .Β But this community is not about journal skins and fancy widgets. It's about us! And maybe it's time to focus on something else than points and memberships. Because at DeviantArt, we bleed and breed Art!
It's time to make art, like art, share art, promote art!
I do not approve of the boycott of DeviantArt, because I still love the DeviantArt community and I don't want more DA employees to loose their job.

Agreed. I won't be buying any more memberships (for the first time in ten years, sort of sad). However, that doesn't mean I have any intention of leaving. I've met so many great friends through this site, and I love posting my own art and seeing other peoples' art.

feature.

We have access to some of the premium content but not all. And this image is for general purpose, not personal to me. I will continue to buy my core membership, but I won't be able to gift them as much to others!

That definitely sucks, I do think contests will take a major hit.
People will start saving their points for memberships, and won't be
able to donate to contests. I've noticed that if a contest doesn't have
a decent point prize, it lacks entries. It will take some time, but I think
people might grow use to small point prizes. Now more than ever, they may
be happy to receive any at all!
