He pressed a button in the wall, and the elevator lurched into action with a vibrating groan that she felt all through the bones in her feet. "I was ninety percent sure."
"I see," Clary said.
There must have been something in her voice, because he turned to look at her. Her hand cracked across his face, a slap that rocked him back on his heels. He put his hand to his cheek, more in surprise than pain. "What the hell was that for?"
"The other ten percent," she said, and they rode the rest of the way down to the street in silence.

Long time no see I know, for inspiration I've been going over my old Mortal Instruments book notes. I figure I'll work my way through them and see what comes out. Originally I didn't think I could capture this scene but I wanted to draw Jace looking a little shell shocked so here we go 8D

To be honest I did wonder about leaving a white background because I think my attempt at portraying a black bird cage like lift with gold gilding is just a distraction. Oh well.

Interesting fact, this isn't the first time Cassie Clare's characters have smacked each other in my gallery.
