I think it's silly that you got disqualified from a manipulation contest for manipulating the photo too much. But hey, at least you got a DD out of it, right? Great work, it's a really creative use of the stock photo and the overall image has a large visual impact

She's reaching, trying to free herself from her solid routine. She wants change. The light, the door, they are so close, but she cannot move. Something is holding her back in life. Her face suggests that she had given up hope. The bird symbolizes the last little bit of hope she has left.
That's my interpretation.
This piece shows life at one of it its hardest points. Great job!
