Wow, I submitted the inked version of this piece May 2005. It was a daunting coloring job, so I can see why it took me so long to sit down and color this piece. This is my second fairtale inspired illustration based on my characters from my web comic, Red String. The fairytale element in this is Beauty and the Beast. In the original fairytale, it was winter and the daughter wanted her father to bring her home a rose. The only place he could find one was in the beast's garden.
Inked with Sakura Micron pens. Colored with Photoshop 7.0

I love that you decided to do another fairy tale picture. I think that this fairy tale is the best suited one for them. It came out very lovely.

Huzzah for references not only to the original Beauty and the Beast, but your own comic! I see the wolf pelt beneath them. 
Actually, I think Eiji would make an awesome counterpart to the Beast. You should do an AU side comic that deals with each couple and their fairy tale, and put it in the artbook. I'd totally buy it!

Oh, I would so love to do an AU of the characters in a fairytale setting some day. I have lots of ideas and parallels for the story to fairytale ideas, but it would have to wait until the story was further along ^^

i've got this as my desktop background, i love the amount of symbolism in this piece, the sky is phenomenal and i really like the bell tied to the rod, that really draws my attention. Nice quote by the way.

At least with you they actually look like roses whereas mine look like a mangled piece of plastic. T_T

I love the composition of this. More than that though, I love the clouds creeping in the gate. I don't know why, exactly, but as soon as I found it I was all giddy.
I do have to admit though, that the trees in the background are a bit out of place with the rest of the illustration; they have texture while the rest of the piece doesn't. It's a little distracting.

Thanks so much! I have been meaning to color this one for so long. I guess after experiencing how long the Awaken from the Fairytale one took to color, I had subconsciously veered from starting the coloring work XD
